She hides her pain
Behind a smile
Because she knows
The pain will last
More than a little while

She hides her pain
Behind a mask
Because she knows
What people will ask

They'll ask her
"Are you okay?"
She'll say "I'm fine"
Turn, and walk away

The less she has to tell
The less her heart can yell
She wants to be free
But no one will let her be

They keep asking her
"Are you okay?"
She says "I'm fine"
But inside all she wants
Is the pain to go away

She doesn't know
If she'll be around
To see that day

So she hides her pain
Behind a smile
Because she knows
The pain will last
More than a little while
