Freedom
Freedom
I’ll never forget
The anger in your eyes
Filled with hatred
No thought to disguise
I went to buy milk
An innocent child
Your fury scared me
It felt wrong deep inside
Not an English owned shop
You spat in my face
Said I was a traitor
I was in disgrace
I knew from that day on
That I had to leave
That town so dark
Riddled with dis-ease
I’d never even noticed
Difference in colour of skin
Until you showed me
Such hatred from within
But I got away
And moved to a new life
Where people didn’t care
If you were black, purple or white
