Is it harder to forgive or to forget?
This question remains with so much to reflect
To forgive is to close the wounds of the past
But to forget is to heal the scars that last
Sometimes I forgive you for a day or two
Then the wound re-opens when I think of you
Sometimes I forgive you by saying the words
But which I didn't mean, hoping to reverse
Sometimes I forgive 'cause it feels much better
Than keeping the hurt and bleeding forever
Now I realize sometimes are not enough
To forgive is to take a path that is tough
For we can't forgive only through willpower
It comes with a prayer said with another
It starts with the words, "I forgive you, I do."
And ends with the line, "I forget all the wounds."
For forgiveness always walks with forgetting
To close the painful wound and stop the bleeding
But most importantly, to remove the scar
That remembers the pain of the mind and heart
To forgive and forget, it must always be
In order for us to be truly set free!
