One night and then a week
That’s all it was
One night, the night they met
What a night it was
Wondrous, enticing
Juan fell fast and hard
There followed letters
For this incipient love
Then came a week, that week
That week of love
The time spent together
Still resonates today
For everything they did
Was perfect in all ways
Young lovers for each other
The same values they had
The future was almost theirs
It’s so sad
For reasons I need not go into
They were kept apart
Each now nurses a very broken heart
But at least they had that week
It lives on today
In their hearts and their memories
The week, that week
They will never replay
