My poetry took baby pictures of mankind
Before the photograph was invented.
They said to put them in an album
I said that there was none there
It had to be created
And can you help me?
They asked why did I not paint portraits
This is what we know.
I replied I am not here to give you what you know
But where you should be.
Besides, you hang up portraits in museums.
And admire them.
You hold baby pictures when you sit on the couch
And ask them questions.
Like I think he has daddy’s nose?
Is that supposed to be a nose?
I think this poetry is very touching to me.
I did not create this to embody the figure of one person.
I revealed this poetry for questions to be answered
By you.
