Mary Prince was born enslaved to loving parents who could not be saved.
When their original owner passed away Mary was sold
At the age of 12 she sailed away to the West Indies where she became enslaved as a companion to someone  similar in age.
For many years she was treated well but then the Master did pass away and the family could no longer afford to pay
Mary was sold three times more against her will.
Not everyone treated her with contempt some families treated her well.
But still the choice was taken away when each time she was sold or leased like a car to you and I, a commodity for someone white and rich to buy.
The last owner did not treat her well, and flogged her to let her know when he was not happy.
Beaten, abused and ***** too, she finally did meet a man to Marry
In 1828 Mary Prince, still enslaved,  determined her own fate
When visiting London with her Master from Antigua she ran away
Fled to the home of Thomas Pringle
Who helped her write her book
Mary Prince was 45 when she died, it is not known if her husband was still by her side
Or if she died single
Mary Prince is a woman to be admired
So take a look buy the book and teach her history to your children
