as i sit beneath the stars here tenessee
with old blue my dog my guitar and me
with the moon above lighting up the night
in the night so calm that makes the world feel right.

singing country songs passing time away
bringing peace of mind as i begin to play
blue there by my side listening to me
with his big blue eyes happy and so free

i would play all night till the early morn
pack up my guitar as i begin yawn
then we head off home old blue by my side
into a nice warm bed blue and i would slide.

then return once more beneath the moonlit night.

old blue my my side listening to me
with his big blue eyes in the night so free
in a world of peace like the world should be
with my best friend blue my guitar and me
