I wonder if he's trying to scratch his brains
because
his finger is so far up his nose,

I suppose he knows what he's doing, but why do it on the underground?
why do it when there's so many people around?
why do it at all?

I'm not the only one that's noticed,
eyes slant
surreptitiously
to the right and to the left of me,
he doesn't seem to care and as his finger disappears it reappears from one of his ears

It's very disconcerting when I'm off to put some work in.

If I was him and I'm glad I'm not I'd leave my snot alone.

I wish
that I was going home instead of watching
him
pick his trombone

It's Monday and I expect a little more
