An evergreen moment soaked in amber rays of warmth
And yet she stands not in the patches of sunlight
But amongst the islands of shadows that have been scattered on the ground
As if to give her shelter, to make her feel safe
I'd take her hand
If it were mine to take
And I would not ask of her to step into the light
Only how to make the shadows darker
