the early Christian church met together and celebrated the sacraments
and at some point they decided(the church that is) to put together the Holy Scriptures to be read at the celebration of the Holy Mass.

Give it a while and all kinds of heresies appeared and was rebuked by the same church, stating the same faith as the early church, and this became known as the Catholic church.

Now there are bible Christians who base their faith and understanding solely on the scriptures, but it was not this way in the beginning and is not the way now for the Catholic church, the one built on the faith of Peter, the rock on which Christ would build His church... the self same Catholic church.
