Rise for the hurt and sorry
You caused and never acknowledged fire
And sudden silence
Mind the stranger’s glance
The new day breaks like a bleeding crime
Never expected
Or never ever like this

Holding your own in a battered life
All night distanced
Life that follows
Smile
When the fire does escape, the bleeding slows

I’m sure the answer will arrive before it’s over
Sometime after the last September

Freefall on a windy morning
Stop, nothing but a secret track of footsteps
That proves that you were once there
Spoken like a hidden cloud
Like the sound of gunshots
Taken by the wind for all down there to hear
