What was, what is, what cannot be
What comes, what goes, what withers away
The still of the night may tuck me right in
But the daylight reminds me of what I desire.

A silver lining reflects on my dream
The tussle of time works to drive it away
The traps are set, and the mines are laid
But I’m standing right here with that thought in my head.

To take a journey so bold and grave
There’s no looking back through the clouds and the rain
What’s here for a moment is gone in a day
What’s left of a lifetime no one can say.

We’re caught in the throttle of a blazing sun
Around and around the journey extends
We’ll dance this great dance to the very last step
Then we’ll harvest the rest that we’ve come to expect.
