My memories of youth sound of the ocean
The afternoons when kingdoms grew from sand
That young heart of mine raced with dreams
My shoulders kissed by the sun
The smell of sunscreen and boardwalk grease,
The shore was a garden, umbrellas bloomed by noon,
There was a girl with eyes of coral,
The sounds of storms rolling in,
Running home as lightning bit at my heels,
Arm and arm with that same girl with coral eyes,
And that young heart of mine raced with dreams,
Today I still look upon those months and that blazing heat,
Remembering those days like peeling skin after a burn,
I still long for the sounds of the ocean and the sand beneath my feet
