Dec 2016
Underneath the pretty surface
Underneath the beating heart
Lies a soul that's not so perfect
Not even knowing where to start

Flaws and imperfections numbered many
Rights and perfections numbered none
A single thought not worth a penny
And opinions considered dumb

She hides behind a lonely shadow
Not wanting anyone to know her name
Terrified of what is tomorrow
And looks forward to it just the same

In the mirror she see a girl
Who is nothing that she wants
She sees a burden to the world
An ugly duckling, not a swan

But deep inside she knows the truth
Of the girl that she can be
Smart, beautiful, full of youth
The girl you'll soon all see
