Buds of May, astir on the stems
Thou art lovely little earthly gems
From field to field throughout the land
The stirring spring gestates her garland
Who would quibble with resplendent hues
Much colour does the eye amuse
So thank god for the buds of May
Piercing as a bride's bouquet
