Nov 2016
It was a visit to the National Museum of Afro American History and Culture
The date was November 12, 2016
The memory of the past that will last
As the time moved into present time that came fast
There were strides that Afro Americans made
Yet we are far from being in the shade
Funny names but one particular one being Adelaide
Music that had a start
Slavery in how it played its part
Civil Rights now that was a marching fight
It was a Stop and Go with Justice not seeing the light
Unrest and Unjust with the feeling being uptight
Yet multitudes mobilized with might
Dance being a creative move
Relaxation and smooth coming together with soothe
There was everything to prove
Years rolled on in “Break those chains”
Racial boundaries could no longer remain
Educate the mind and read a book for understanding
In God we trust
Having Faith had to be a must
The hour of darkness with the plan to escape
It meant be careful but not acting like an Ape
A President Obama film clip, “This is President Obama as I’m Out”
Strides over the years
This is how we all survived in moving forward being preserver
Accomplishments of the past being our floor plan for inspiration
However encouragement and not to tire
Past history in what everyone needed to know
It was more than a presentation of show
Pick yourself up and go
However that was the flow
Yet the National Museum wanted to state, “Now you know”.
