Candy
is sweet like innocence
Before the sugar coats your tongue in
promises you thought you'd keep
Everything tasted so right
that you didn't notice when he left
Because your eyes were closed as you were
taking in the of the flavor of happiness,
You didn't realize-
like candy,
Things can only feel so sweet
until your teeth fall out from the sugar,
The wrappers crinkled carelessly on the ground
you recognize
Too much candy will wreck your white smile.
