Oh,  some say that death is the greatest evil
and that the life of this body of clay
is a treasure above all other treasures.
Oh, but those who have known what it is to love
know that love is the very life and breath of the soul
for without love the body only lives on
as some purely mechanical thing
its existence without rime or reason.
It is ruled only by mindless mechanical reflexes
and yet it lives on without rime or reason.
Oh, don't you know
that those that do not love
do not live?
For then the spirit of life
had left the soul
and leaves it to live without rime or reason.
Oh, love is the power
by which the universe live
and with it God makes the stars shine.
And by it lovely  delicate butterflies
swim through the sky
their wings like flowers in the air.
Oh, my heart is like some bottomless well
in which swim all my passion
and all my memories of you
like fish in the sea.
And oh, my heart must be more bottomless than any sea
to contain all my passion and love for you
and all my fond memories of you.
Oh, without you I am nothing
and nothing I could ever be
but a mere shadow
that had nether form nor substance
and vanishes upon the break of day.
Oh, to me you are more holy than the holy angels!
And you shall forever live within this heart!
Oh, for I know that my heart has touched an angel
and I no longer belong to this earth
with all of its petty jealousies and hatreds
for your love has touched my life.
And all the words and all the thoughts
that have ever passed through my mind
and every beat of my heart
has but one reason to be.
Oh, that is to live all my life
for you my dear love
and to love you
with every particle and fiber
within my soul.
Oh, you are a love song
that was made for the ages
that my heart must forever sing.
Oh, lovely is your flesh
and oh, lovely is your soul
and lovely is the life that flows within you!
Oh, I shall forever that love song of you!
For all long as God makes that stars to shine
and then forever into God's sweet eternity.
