The thunder clapped in the heavens
Followed by a burst of lightening
That lit the night sky ablaze

I had failed in my quest
The world I meant to save
Turned to ashes before my eyes

The rain poured down
On the mounds of dead bodies
That I was too weak to save

"You are alone" he scoffed
As he stood before me
His voice the very thunder itself

Though he wasn't wrong
I was alone now
And had always been

I was no longer fighting for salvation
My sole purpose now was revenge
For those innocence that lay slaughtered

I was badly wounded
But I raised my sword once more
As blood flowed down the blade

Then I charged
With all the strength I could muster
One last time

And as I ran I thought I heard
Voices far off in the distance
Calling out to me saying,

"You are not alone"
