If it were only as simple as
Inhaling oxygen
And exhaling carbon dioxide
Then love would be the salt of the earth

If it were only as simple as
The sun rising in the east
And setting in the west
Then love would paint the bluest of skies

If it were only as simple as
Pulling a thorn
And stitching up the wound
Then love would bleed instead of us
