Now I lay me down to sleep
I give the dirt my bones to keep
And if my soul the shadow reaps
I pray your tears short and sweet
Forgive me friends, do not weep
For life is kindness, life is cheap
Bury me 'neath those flowered trees
I bet my eyes that death's a cheat
