On a number thirteen
London routemaster bus

A passenger
Once asked
The bus conductor

‘How are you?’

‘I’m enjoying life’
He replied
‘Enjoying life’

I was a school boy
And my bus travelled steadily
Along the Finchley road

The conductor rang the bell
Twice
To signal the driver
And then he whistled a tune

He was happy

And for the duration of our journey
We were too
