I remember
When the only sound you made
Was a flower blooming
Softly and sweetly
Honey colored
I remember
How I couldn't believe
Anything in this world could be so beautiful
Delicate and changing
Porcelain skin

And the bird that flew from your heart
Landed gently on my windowsill
And sang a song
I alone could hear

I remember
Even when the skies were grey
I felt the sunshine on my skin
The warmth of your touch
The light in your eyes
I remember
Never fearing darkness
Only feeling what man was made to feel
Wide eyed to the sun rise
I hoped would last forever

I remember
And that's what hurts me most
Remembering
When I only want to forget

That the bird that flew from your soul
Was pierced by a poisoned arrow
A song alone was silenced
And only I knew
