losing you was a slow burn
just like breathing
you can never unlearn

it was the subtlety
the uncanny way
of how you chose to end it
it wasn't full of drama
neither a vision of me
throwing a fit

it was as silent as hearts breaking
like a low whisper
of unsaid i love yous
as delicate as a feather
landing on a bed of nails

but that didn't cushion the blow
the pain was grand
it was gasping for air underwater
it was the realization of a nightmare
it was everything
i wasn't prepared for
