You weren’t in class today,
And you didn’t answer my texts.
You should know better,
Than to worry me like this.

I couldn’t sleep.
I wondered if you were ok.
I stared at the ceiling,
Just thinking about the things that could be wrong.

Wishing you would call,
Or text,
Just so I know you’re ok.
Why do you ignore me like this?

You know I worry
Why do you push me away?
At least say,
“I don’t want to talk, but I promise I’m ok.”

This silence is killing me
I can’t take it any more
I call you. It rings.
No answer. And then...

“I knew you would be the first to call.
It’s always you.
I’m sorry I worried you all day,
It was selfish of me.

But I needed to prove to myself,
That you still loved me.
I promise to never ignore you again,
If you promise to love me forever.”

I waited for the beep
And then
I whispered softly
“I Promise”
