it's not alive
it isn't scared
it wasn't what
you thought it was

it isn't right
it can't be wrong
it keeps you up
it makes you strong

it makes you rich
it makes you cry
it mends the stitch
it plays along

it grinds it's teeth
it doesn't care
it hides beneath
it tends to glare

it stays in tune
it keeps in time
it guards the moon
it's in its prime

it knows no end
it has no start
it's arms subtend
your shallow heart

it disappears
it bears the scars
it isn't what
you thought it was
