Summer winds have gone on their travels
and Autumn has turned up right on time.
The Sun follows a smaller arc across the hills
and is bright in the eyes of all creatures.
Single songs of birds punctuate the stillness
as a poet sings solitude across the days
and nights now are black as tar with diamonds
while field mice search out warm winter abodes.
