And and we've been pretending

we've been pretending it's all right
that it's all good

we've been faking happiness
and faking peace

we know that we've gone too far

that there's no going back

and we're all intoxicated
past the point of serenity
to the point of insanity

and no matter
how many years
of sobriety
we can still relapse

and no matter
how many days
that we act kindly
we will all snap

because we all snap
under pressure
and the more we fake it
the more people expect
and the more we pretend
the harder it is to not

and the pressure builds
the temperature rises
until one day
we crack
and everything boils over

tension
release

so it goes
