... broken promises ...
.
is it strange ( or what ? )
//
The government can make promises and tell lies
That lead BILLIONS of people into poverty
And MILLIONS into death
And we remain docile and compliant
BUT
should some young soul
Obviously unsure of him or herself
Kinda stammer out some form of
I LOVE YOU
( and clearly not knowing what this means )
and we choose to take these meaningless words
And stretch them into an eternity of
Promises of pure happiness
AND
when the inevitable confusion surfaces
We act so indignant
and get weepy teary
andΒ Β bitter and resentful
Cursing and blustering
WHILE
walking serenely thru the
Poverty stricken streets
Amid the corpses
Which we pretend aren't there
//
I don't know about you
But I find it strange
::
In fact
I find it
Stranger than strange
( almost deranged )
