Empty handed
In my head I had it all planned out
How I'd ask her for that dance
I'd rehearsed my smile and tone
But in the end she never arrived
And never took my hand
So I sat alone and watched the others' joy
My throat tightened, choking me
With the pain of pointless time
And after all I went home empty handed, empty hearted.
