You can't drown your true feelings, you can't rewrite the past
You can't pretend we never happened just because it didn't last
You can't act as if I was never there
You can't convince yourself that I didn't care
You can't take drugs to numb the pain deep inside
You can't hide me in a dark corner in the back of your mind
You need pain as a reminder that I did exist
But you run from the truth like a flying fist
You can't replace me with someone else
& put all of our memories on a broken shelf
You can't have select amnesia only for me
You can't hide on land while I'm lost at sea
You can't ignore what you need to survive
You can't bury your heart while you're still alive
