I sat from afar,
separated by barb wired walls,
and I waited to patiently,
slowly building a bridge from you to me.

Now I sit here in the dead of night,
counting wasted months and lost time,
because I thought there was something there,
but there was nothing but words and air.

So now my bridge burns,
I wish you could get in my head so you could see what you've done.
My eyes are on fire,
my heart is a liar,
and I can't help but hold my breath.

But in the end,
you'll slip through the cracks anyway...
