Thought you’d always be there
Took for granted that you’d care
To put it in a word I was unaware
Of how much pain and despair
That I was causing you
By the stupid things I’d do
Was I callous guess it’s true
Now I’m the one who’s blue

It’s a hard adjustment to make
The things for granted that we take
When someone’s heart we slowly break
Which can be a fatal mistake

Do you find it to be strange
When I tell you how I’ve changed
Ever since we’ve been estranged
Or do you think I’m deranged
Cuz I’ve always had good game
But underneath I’m just the same
Someone worthy of the blame
Who’s impossible to tame

It’s a hard adjustment to make
The things for granted that we take
When someone’s heart we slowly break
Which can be a fatal mistake

See I’m tryin’ to make sense
Out of your ambivalence
Which is the equivalence
Of having me in suspense

No matter how much breath I waste
Mere talk will not erase
The memories that you have encased
In your mental private space
But what else can I do
To prove the point to you
That I’m done and through
With the things I used to do

It’s a hard adjustment to make
The things for granted that we take
When someone’s heart we slowly break
Which can be a fatal mistake

Thought you’d always be there
Took for granted that you’d care
To put it in a word I was unaware
Of how much pain and despair
That I was causing you
By the stupid things I’d do
Was I callous guess it’s true
Now I’m the one who’s blue

It’s a hard adjustment to make
The things for granted that we take
When someone’s heart we slowly break
Which can be a fatal mistake
