Grandfather speaks repeatedly
In the same repiticious tone
Repeating the moments away
Till each second he has is gone

Grandfather never lets me forget
The passing of the hour
He sings at his appointed times
As long as he has the power

Grandfather works under a heavy weight
And only when this weight is lifted can he play his song
A sound as cymbals on a drum
Or the beating of a gong

Grandfather talks till his heart winds down
Only then will he stop
Then unlike me ,he will breathe again
When once more is wound my Grandfather clock
