Dec 2014
the sun stays
hot all day long
its beating rays
ever so strong

the heat that
is imparted by it
doth burn the skin
quite a bit

unto a shady spot
we all scurry
to get out of the sun's
searing flurry

for it doth drain
the energy store
with an uncomfortable
hellish score

tis much like
a scorching fireside
which we cannot
well abide

at the hour of three
in the eve
sweat freely flows
on a sleeve

we welcome
the wind's cooling puff
that gives relief
from the sun's cuff

summer doth bring
a Hades call
of which we feel
its feverish ball
