Bluelips
If you wake tomorrow
And I am gone,
Then know that I
Will be in some safer place,
And won't not return
No more.

If you wake tomorrow
But light is dim,
You will me not behold
For my silhouette is just a veil,
Flowing in the wind,
Evermore.

If you wake tomorrow
A little colder,
And my shadow is
The only fragment left of me,
I have your dreams
Restored.

If you wake tomorrow
To a silence,
Leaving you trembling
The voice you hear is not me,
But a sigh deploring in
Your core.

i loved a girl
with broken eyes
deep, sad
you could drown in them
and so i did
gasping for breath
as she pulled me under

i loved a girl
with too many scars
reminders of battles i could not help her win
with every tracing by my fingers
i wished to erase
any and all of her pain

i loved a girl
from a broken home
yelling parents
alcohol consumed
i tried to be an island
a steady rock
an alternative to the misery of her house

i loved a girl
and gave her my all
so it killed me harder
to watcher her fall
into this pit of sadness and addiction
and as i sit here in pain, wishing i could have saved her
i wondered if loving anyone
was worth it

I have firmly believed that life is music
And love is the song.
Now knowing both intimately
I wouldn’t say that I was wrong.

I used to love his genre his style his swag.
Now I think it just sounds ridiculous.
I want something else now for me
I want something so delicious.

My boy HDT told me to go
with the beat of a different drum
And I think I have now
Those odd beats I’ll get me some.

It’s funny how our tastes change.
It’s funny how we used to be.
What used to move those mountains
Now doesn’t do a ******* thing for me.

I can never pretend that I don’t still love you
Honey bun you know I do
But I can admit that I don’t want you
Took me this long but now it’s true.

You’re only just a warm body
Someone I used to love and you're here
But it’s not the same, oh my darling
You ain’t ever gunna get another tear.

I think our timelines are twisted
I think our timing is just wrong
I still think love is the music
But Thank God you’re no longer my song.

I can't deny. I'm influenced by dem beats.
I'm not normally a "rhymer" so to speak. But I wanted the poem to reflect a catchy song. I may re-work this into a different free form...just wanted to play with the form a bit!

She was the moon.
Fair, serene, and powerful.
He was the sun.
Luminous, warm, and strong.
Unknowingly chasing each other around the globe,
Growing weary,
Becoming hopeless,
Until an eclipse.
And the whole world stopped to watch,
as the pair met in the ebony sky.
A poem about nighttime. Poetry challenge.

Life is full of strange little things
Like the fact that
None of us have ever actually seen our faces
Only our reflections
That seems so strange
All the people you've seen cry, all the smiles you have witnessed
But you have never viewed your own?
Eyes, brown or blue or green
Deep and sad, light and happy
A myriad of teeth and lips
Crooked noses, freckles
You can take them in on anyone and everyone
Except for yourself
I just think its strange
That you never get to see
The real you

Minus Me.

Love is an equation, pure math,
but, unlike math, it makes no sense.
1 plus 1 makes 1?
It can also make 3.

One thing's for sure.
You minus me makes 0.
Take you away from me, and I am no more.
****! Gone.
Only to be a memory of a once perfect equation.

Add 1 to you, and it makes 1 again.
Multiply 1 by me, and I'm still 0.
When there's no 1 to add, multiplying only makes things worse.

Can I have my 1 back?
Math. Poetry. Love. Heartache.

You blasted into this world running free to be yourself.
You needed no sanctuary to hide away from this strange world.
Please, remember tomorrow for we will all be sad,
because you're no longer with us. You've traveled to another life.

You were like a prodigal son, but not one of the drifters.
Not another children of the ******, invaders to this realm.
Yet life wasn't easy, it trapped you in an iron maiden,
thus you became the prisoner by the number of the beast.

Now you're gone, but it wasn't the killers who took you.
No murders in the rue Morgue put you in your own purgatory.
Don't think of this as an innocent exile or a total eclipse.
22 Acacia avenue awaits for his favorite client.

No need to run to the hills.
There is no twilight zone.
You lived by your true self
so hallowed be thy name.
A poem in memory of former Iron Maiden drummer (and one of my influences for drumming) Clive Burr, who passed away today. Rock in Peace, Clive.
P.S. The words in italics are names of songs by Iron Maiden recorded with Clive on the drums. Also not my finest work, but, again, only a tribute to him.
