Do you think we are madness?
You and I on this passionate ride that
Constantly leaves us spinning and out of breath.

We sat in the middle of the tunnel, cold rails under us while we drowned in darkness. The faint light coming from either side gave a false hope of comfort as though maybe you'd see a silhouette of some ethereal shadow-creature before it struck.

Drips dropped from the rocky surfaces and echoed, faintly, & ever so often; just often enough to remind us that time was passing.
The wisps of smoke that danced away from the tip of the blunt vanished into the darkness as easily as we had, our faces only visible when the orange ember surged to life during each inhale.

We sat and we spoke, and when we weren't speaking we were listening to the silence that resonated in between those dripdrops of condensation.

As full of smoke as the tunnel, we trudged our way back towards that faint wall of light that marked the edge. The invisible rails that had been our seats slowly crept back into existence as we moved on, more light slipping in between the darkness we had been inhabiting.

The silence took his cue and bowed out gracefully as the conversations of insects and nearby highways began, leaving us with each other as we continued on our way.

You can't stop a speeding train
By standing on the tracks in the pouring rain

You can't grab a thunder bolt passing by
If your out in left field with hands in your Levi's

You can't talk a drunk out of his last drink
If he's got nowhere that he'd rather be

You can't stop a wild stampede
With only one hand raised and two left feet

You can't stop a bullet from a gun
No matter how fast you think you can run

You can't stop the sun from showing itself
By promising the day to somebody else

You can't stop the moon from shinning bright
By staying behind locked doors at night

And you can't stop the way I feel
When I'm next to you cause my love is real

You put a bullet in to my skull
You loaded the pen fired,
It blackened my hair
Pieced my skull,
Exploded in my mind,
Ink bled from my mouth
It landed on the paper below,
Became words,
It would fall in droplets,
A crime if not put in to word.
You shot two more times,
I shuddered under the onslaught
Verbs, pronouns, syllabus,
Ink,
Lead,
Shreds of written words,
Expelled from my
Ears,
Nose,
Mouth,
You had shot me, penetrated my mind
so violent, in need of rest,
For now the droplets had stopped
The paper was dry
Ink had bled from me to make word,
Three times to the back of the head.
