I've Said All I Can
Mr E Feb 2014

You Only have A Name
Mr E Mar 2016
When life comes tumbling down,
as walls do sway and shake.
Though you claw and drown,
you're left with sole keepsake.
Your name is an image
that people know from hill to glen.
Your name is all you have,
when your world comes crashing in.

Ballerine Française
Mr E Mar 2017
It started with the music,
her love for music carried her round.
And oh how she danced with that tune,
how she swayed like wind amongst the trees.
Her talent grew with her passion
and people came far and wide to see her prance.
Fate finally brought her largest performance,
the world sat hushed as the lights dimmed and curtain rose.
Stepping out into the light she was cheered
she was loved.
Carrying the world on her shoulders,
proving to those watching in awe,
that she was the most magnificent of them all,
the "meilleur des meilleurs".
Her body moved and her arms stretched
and on that night the crowd roared
and cheered forever it seemed.
Because she proved two things,
she was the best in the world
and that she no longer loved to dance.
For she realized she danced for the sake of the end.
She realized she forgot what it was like
to love to dance for herself.

Love Unnatural
Mr E Oct 2014
I realized many years ago
That only fools fall for love
For love is the curse of the human species
The pact we make before we cry
Before heartbreak and grief consume
Love is the binding contract
That only guarantees true sadness
So in this life I shall not love
For I am no slave to folly
And maybe just maybe
I shall rid myself
Of ever shedding tears
Again

Hey You
Mr E Apr 2014
Hey you there,
You sitting with your phone or computer
Scrolling through to find something to entertain yourself with
Or maybe trying to forget about the world for just a moment
Losing yourself for only a second
Hey you there,
Boy or Girl, Man or Woman
Who has some chores or work to do but would rather read some poetry
Who wants to write something
But can't figure how to fit the words that capture the feelings
Who only wants to run away and express yourself through words in print
Hey you there,
Doubting soul, who fears the future and what it hides
Or shameful past and stupid mistakes
Things you wish you could write about and accept it for what they are
I write this just as you do
Hey you there,
I am a human too
A guy just trying to mend the broken pieces and turn it beautiful again
To find the love of my life or achieve something for myself
Trying to fight the same but different fight we face everyday
Hey you there,
I imagine you reading this
Your eyes glancing across the screen
The tabs opened with music playing (or not)
We all do the same kinds of things
So do not fret, for we are all universally unique
Fighting our own battles, yet looking all the same.

Mr E Nov 2015

every fall the same.
When life gives out and trees wither,
shivering with the chilling air.
Shedding the forest of their clothes,

Fall is a very unnerving time,
for I fear that Spring won't return.

Mr E Oct 2021
The ruthless will devour you
Yet you will not even know it happened
Until the jaws begin to close
And the light begins to dim

By the time you realize
What that ruthless man has done

It will be utterly too late

For the pieces will have been moved
The pawns all sacrificed
And the dreaded realization will set in
That you were just a spectator to the game

And not even worth being called a piece

Because in war there are the children

It finds you one way or another

Like gifts wrapped on Christmas day
A mystery that surrounds you and waits for you to find for yourself
It can come like a storm
Unpredictable like rain from a clear sky
But eventually you find yourself living life with it
As if it were always there
And no matter how long you want to stay the same
You live with it and call it friend.

Doubters Lie
Mr E Sep 2018
I lived my life
Wholeheartedly believing
I didn’t deserve happiness

As if when things went well
They were too good to last
And anxiety crept in

Anxious about the bad that was to come
I never could enjoy the good times
I would sideline myself for no reason

As if I slipped into a cycle
Never fully grasping the moment
Gasping for a breath of fresh air that’d never come.

Doubt had me chained
Bogged down and restrained
And the world around me was always gray

And to this day I still feel uneasy
When my day is bliss and plain
My day offs are filled with worry

I type this all now to let you know
To all those afflicted like me
That your days with sun rays
Are productive and warm
You’re allowed to relax
And kick back with glee.

Then Comes the Fury
Mr E Aug 2017
First comes the tickle
from the chest it pulses through:
Upwards.
Your body wants to jolt
but you remain still.
Second comes the tingle of the head
from the spine that connects it all.
All you do is stare.
Callously as you process the emotion,
intertwined with information,
crescendoing into a storm without reason.
Without need of reason.
For it is simply that.
Unreasonable hatred.
Your breath:
Steady.
A disgusting numbness shrieks
Sickening rage courses back and forth
Pulsating
Third comes the grinding
The gnashing of teeth
Until your jaw eases back
Fourth comes the flooding
the pain attempts to touch you
Stop you
You stop it
Fifth comes the hush before the ******
Raw energy building
Pressure now balanced throughout
Sixth comes the explosion
And with all your might you hit back
Breaking your fingers
Smashing your wrist against their cheek
Their jaw cracks beneath your shattered fist
1/100 of your anger now exhausted
You don't feel a thing
You're numb now
Then it happens
In one crashing chord
comes the fury.

Fraction of an Experience
Mr E Jan 2017
Why do we lie to ourselves.
The times we try to experience "the world"
Is only a lie we play in order to pretend we've seen the other side.
We haven't.
We have only tasted a change in our own routines, that taste just exotic enough to have us believe we have experienced a radical new change.
Our leisure time has become that of self pity.
A new place to have "fun" until the sun comes up.
And when it does we shuffle back to where we came from and advertise our experience to the world.
What a concept.
Have we become so shallow? Have we sunk so low, that we honest to god believe that it means something?
Someday you wake up and it's the last time you think this way.
Some never grow out of it.
I'll surely never understand it.

As I Fade to the Night
Mr E Oct 2018
Ethereal rift, shimmering tide
Calm as ripples dancing across the sea
A standstill beauty where we coincide
Gazing gently, comforting me.

Blanketing sparkle of speckled dust
Swirling sea foam and warming light
Cocooned bliss within complacent trust
Soothing me softly with twinkles bright.

Stepping onto glassy plains
Mirrors to my internal plight
Reflection of eternity remains
As I fade to the night.

Floating faintly I drift away
As gentle gales push ever so slight
Embracing me, my love, I cannot stay
As I fade into the night.
Mr E Jun 2019
Only when do we feel confident in ourselves
When we look in the mirror that looks back at us
And both reflections smile

When we let go of the fears that bind us
That wrap us like chains
Permitting us to go only so far

Only when we drop our disguises
The masks we wear to hide our faces
Will we be comfortable with ourselves

And if the world did the same
Where no one hid beneath a mask
We would all be free

We would all be happy

Man has sought for things he can't have
and what a sad venture it has been.
Clawing for a an end,

he has dug for gold he'll never find.
Man deluded himself.
Because this is the way of the world,

If I Shared Your Pain
Mr E Feb 2017
Suppose we were connected,
our minds all one the same.
But we didn't know each others thoughts,
just experienced each others pain.
It wouldn't be anything physical,
we would simply feel our hearts sink,
when someone cried or felt down,
it'd pull our own heart strings.
Well, what would be different?
All sorts of things I think,
we would watch what we do to others,
well aware of our personal link.
Actions meticulously thought out,
customs surely changed,
"walk a mile in my shoes"
could be easily arranged.
At first we'd hurt each other,
on purpose or mistake
but as we grow and change,
new systems we'd create.
War would slowly fall away
as all would feel the loss,
human nature slowly turning
the next step as we evolve.

So suppose you felt the losses,
entertain the idea of feeling despair,
and if you can't then realize
though numb from others it's always there.

Loss
Mr E May 2015
No one understands loss until it happens
Like a crushing wave, sweeping you off your feet
Tumbling you around without mercy
A roller coaster of emotions with
A searing pain right through your heart
Loss can stab you, beat you, and break you
All in one swift and cunning blow
And before the feelings have even hit you
Like a bright light
You see it flash before you feel the warmth
But this warmth isn't comforting
This warmth is cold
Far from fleeting
Lingering pain
But before this even hits you, you cry
Perhaps not yet knowing why you cry at all
Your mind unable to comprehend the event
It shuts down for the briefest of moments
As if wishing the bad news away
Will change the cold reality
But the tears roll down your cheeks
Rain on the windshield
Uncontrollable
But it finally catches you
And it holds you close
The room gets smaller
The air gets heavy
And you stop breathing for the slightest moment
It hits
Hard
And the tears flow even faster now
As if your eyes were the flood gates
Smashing open with all this emotion
You crumple
Sometimes losing balance
Sometimes because that's all you can do
Or all you want to do
Wanting to curl up in a ball and be lost for a while
Embarrassed your head bows like the sun every evening
Dipping and running away
You feel your heart literally wrench and your chest gets heavy
You can't function and the word loss now has a new meaning
Because no one understands loss until it happens
And I feel this now
This stinging blow
Now I understand what it truly means
To have it all taken
Truly feeling
At a Loss

Mr E Jul 2016
These Republicans and these Democrats
and all the rest of the lot.
Saying what wants to be heard,
masquerading what they are not.
I come to you as a child,
with a mind that's true and pure.
But what happened to our government
what happened and what is the cure?
We bred a beast of paper,
born from misery and greed.
Where our lawmakers always owe favors
"never bite the hand that feeds".
Where money is the motivator
and the country is the boat,
and as long as they are high and dry
no matter how low they'll keep it afloat.
Like Nascar they're all sponsored
by whom we'll never know,
but they don't listen to us anymore
they listen to those who give the dough.
Have we forgotten the basic principles
this country was built around?
For all its fellow countrymen
In all its sacred ground.
To those we see on the sidewalks,
driving cars and going about
of all colors and pigmentations
fairness and equality is the only route.
As a child these were simple
but as we grew it left our minds
to treat others like our kin
no matter what the situation finds.
We were braver when we were children,
not afraid to help others out.
maybe I'm talking about things too simple,
perhaps this is what it's all about.

From the deaf who first hear the song birds
To the blind who see the sunrise

Tears flow down awakened blind eyes

We evoke senses with our beings
And though these senses we've had since birth
From those who wish to hear and see things
Never forget how much they're worth
