it is the nature of dogs to sleep
it is the nature of rocks to crumble
it is the nature of the sky to be blue
it is the nature of the day to be long
it is the nature of the car to break down
it is the nature of the tree to grow upwards
it is the nature of hands to seek hands
it is the nature of birds to sing songs
it is the nature of hearts to beat
it is the nature of rivers to flow
it is the nature of roads to go onwards
it is the nature of suns to beat brows
it is the nature of worms to burrow
it is the nature of tops to turn
it is the nature of grass to be dew-covered
it is the nature of the earth to be hard
it is the nature of the siren to blare
it is the nature of the eyes to roam
it is the nature of the shelf to hold
it is the nature of hammer to build
it is the nature of a river to roar
it is the nature of a voice to whisper
it is the nature of the book to yellow
it is the nature of paper to burn
it is the nature of the blanket to warm
it is the nature of the arms to comfort
it is the nature of the family to challenge
it is the nature of the breakfast to fill
it is the nature of nations to bicker
it is the nature of floors to creak
it is the nature of gods to laugh
it is the nature of man to laugh too
it is the nature of the mind to wonder
it is the nature of the body to fear
it is the nature of life to consume
it is the nature of all else to oppose

I haven't painted my nails
since we were still
a happy couple.
Now they're chipped,
but i can't bring myself to
remove that blue-green polish
because it feels like the one little piece
of you that i still have.
Maybe once it all flakes off,
i'll be back to the old
me-without-you self.
Not having forgotten you,
just no longer dependent.
Baby, you were my alcohol
and now i'm just another addict
going through my first withdrawal.
I often wish that i could go back
to who i was before you,
but i have to find me first.
Until then, i'll endure the detox.

I gasp for air
that simply isn't
mine to
breathe.
As the tears roll down from my cheeks, all I can ask is why.
Her purple dress, her vivid yet dull cheeks soon to be beneath my feet,
All I can do is cry.
Why would God do this so someone so full of life
So happy, proud to say she was a child of God.
But, maybe this was her time.
Her time to shine, to a new destination and make another person smile.
I whip away the tears from my eyes and smile, for I have to let go.. And let her fly
Float away to the far sun, Mars, and... Even the sky
You have to understand how much it hurts me to let you go.
But, I have to be strong enough for both of us and show
That I love you and I’ll do anything to make you smile.
Forever do us part, we’ll meet again, but this time I’ll be on gold brick road.
And angel wings to show, that were immortal.
But for now I’m going to have to let you
Float away…
I would greatly appreciate the kindness
Of not giving me that smug look,
As if my bad days have anything to do with you.
As if I give the smallest care about who you're with or what you'll do.

The only thing that bothers me
Is your arrogant, ignorant, crinkled, smug face.
So please, point it in some other direction.
Thank you kindly.
Live without hurting
him, others, and the spirit.
Unattainable

I will keep shocking you until you realize that I will always shock you.

I will do precisely what you wish I wouldn't do,
Until you understand that my life depends on you.

I will keep dying until you realize that I will always die, and that there is nothing you can do about it.

I will throw away the things you love in me,
Until my love is all there is and all you see.

I will keep hurting until you realize that you care if I do.

John
He came from nothing
A drug addicted father
And a mother who couldn't give two *****
If he lived or died
He was just another ****** expulsion to her
And she would routinely compare him to
What she flushed down the toilet every morning

Predictably, his body grew
Tall and strong
And his temper grew with it
He was a fire *******
A match dropped
Into a bucket of kerosene
He'd fight for anything
Right, wrong, man, woman
He didn't care

People on the street would stop and stare
Because after a while
He was the boy who was known
As a bomb
"He could beat bricks
Until they bled.
"
Is what they all said

He eventually ended up in the ring
Where modern gladiators go to prove their primal worth
Once he taped up his hands, slipped on those gloves
An energy ran through him, he knew no on could stop him
He took bonecrushing jabs
To the jaw, the temple, to the head and brain
And delivered skull cracking hooks
To the same areas
No matter how hard anyone went at him
No matter how much they wanted him down
He wanted it more
And one by one
Like little toy soldiers
They all came crashing
Down
Down
