Gentleman
MMV Abad Aug 2010
You enjoy his gestures
gentle and formal,
Soft spoken conversationalist,
your ideal man.

He opens a door for you,
then lets you go first.
He offers a chair for you,
then gets you a drink.

You love his choice of clothes,
clean and simple.
His perfume pleases you,
perfect masculine smell.

He doesn’t make advances,
never asks for a kiss.
He keeps his hands in place
to keep your virtue safe.

My dear, beautiful friend,
feel safe as you can be.
This wretched, horrible man,
is in love with my brother.

The Gift of Time
MMV Abad Sep 2011
A little girl was excited,
on one special gift, delighted.
With the sweet thought, she slept,
hoped for the promise be kept.

Early morning, there were gifts,
boxes with beautiful lids.
From the love of her father,
pretty gifts like no other.

But the little girl frowned.
The missing gift was learned.
Her father, she was hoping,
had left for a meeting.

My friends, the message is clear
In love, remember so dear;
It is a commitment.
Let time be its fulfillment.

Not a Love at First Sight
MMV Abad Aug 2010
Just a familiar face
Right across the place
Once or twice, our eyes locked
Uninterested, no spark
Then, fate intervened
Our paths became one
Different as we are
Still not a glitter
We spoke a little
Simple questions
Short responses
The feeling of unease
Something about your voice
Its beauty up so close
Your solemn gaze
A captivating stare
With your divine scent
My heart skipped a beat
Can’t wait for tomorrow
To be near you once more
Maybe you’re a sorcerer
A love spell caster
How I long for you
I’m in love with you.

From Bright to Grey Skies
MMV Abad Sep 2011
Lovely day
sunny sky
Brightens me
Lifts me up
A new day
Full of hope
Inspires me
Excites me
Friends faces
Lots of laughs
Easy talk
Delightful walk
Then it pours
Icy cold
Spine tingling
Reaching the soul
Lonely day
So grey sky
Happy heart
Turning sad
No changes
Helpless case
My deep sorrow
I need to go.

Nasty Weather
MMV Abad Jan 2011
Dark, grey clouds in the sky,
unending rain cascades.
Some chilly air blows by
as it swirls savagely.
Water drips everywhere,
icy cold and sticky wet.
Some inconveniences,
bad weathers of our lives.
How we wish for the sun.
How we hope for such warmth.
Then again, after the rain…
A rainbow may be seen.
And, there is always tomorrow
for the sun may chose to show.
But, then again, if not…
Just don’t forget our umbrella,
for us to make it through the rain.

No Boundaries
MMV Abad Aug 2010
Flowers bloom then wither,
autumn gives way to winter.
Sunny day to rainy day,
dawn ending to dusk.

Life span for the living,
a limit for everything.
The sky has its border,
ocean and seas have floors.

Mere human as you are-
delicate and fragile.
Your strength put to test,
patience comes to end.

Yet tomorrow, you try again,
perseverance is the game.
No limits for trying,
your hopes undying.

MMV Abad Sep 2010
The sweet smell of the grass,
and the still light of the moon.
Perfect moment for us.
Our special time alone.

Under the starlit sky,
we taste each other ’s lips.
How I melt in your embrace,
as the world remains asleep.

You whisper a secret,
dark and sinister, I hear.
Yet, your voice some music,
enigmatic to resist.

Thus, screams shatter the night,
foul, unspeakable curses.
As hooded men invade,
I hold on to your clutches.

Lover’s night into fight,
I yell, I weep and you claw
Alas, rivals have triumphed,
everything turns into black.

My heart bleeds as I wake,
finding no presence of you.
Murderous men have calmed,
beneath their feet – a demon!

Fruit Bearing Trees
MMV Abad Sep 2011
Criticism is a law of life,
and still, an awful price.
It speaks for the best of men,
and yet, crushes many dreams.
It is an excellent reminder,
for us to strive… work better.

We may never win, as we take the test.
We may please some, but never the rest.

Facing criticism may be tough.
We tend to break and lose all hopes.
Better think of trees,
bearing the most sweetest fruits.
And of little boys,
mischievous, hungry for sports.

How they ignore trees without fruits,
but love to throw at trees bearing fruits.

Immortality
MMV Abad Oct 2010
To live forever is a gift.
Men can grasp unto their dreams,
incessant opportunities,
to try all over again.

Such chance is to nurture wisdom,
to understand the world,
and to discover the secrets,
of the past and present.

A delight to see the future,
and witness the rise of new worlds.
everlasting great breakthroughs,
a festive treat for the mind.

Yet, living forever – a curse.
Mind and body can grow weary,
to see everyone you know dies,
go  on and on, eternally.

Immortal men can be envious,
of souls at peace in heaven.
While they, forever remain,
wandering into the earth.

No one can be deafer than them.
Most choose not to listen.
They could spend hours of debate,
on a topic all over again.

A lot, I had been enraged by them.
They had been a nuisance.

In a wide desert, looking.

Myrrh, gold and incense,

Fit for a true king.

A bright star, their guide.
Its light illuminating,
showing the right way.

Upon a stable,
the star shines brilliantly.
At last, He is found!

Shepherds are gathered.
Animals around are hushed.
The place is tranquil.

High pitched and infectious,

Well nourished or starving,

Some good fortune for kids,
having a true home,
with someone to hold them.
Someone to kiss them.

But an ill fate for those,
having such a house,
and not a home to go.

Redefining Beauty
MMV Abad Aug 2010
Beauty is something for the eyes to see.
It could be the marvelous ocean,
under the pink and blue horizon.
A budding rose in a quiet garden,
where colorful butterflies, flutter by.
A little girl, vibrant with youth.
How her innocence captures our hearts.
Women with such sophistication.
How charming men fight for her affection.

Indeed, beauty is for the eyes to feast.
Such misfortune it isn’t forever.
How easily can it change its form?
Sunny day into a violent storm,
destroying properties dear to men.
Lovely flowers decaying into nothing,
their sweet smell clearly forgotten.
Young girls becoming battered women
with looks beyond recognition.

Maybe beauty is for the eyes alone.
Yet, a lasting beauty is not to be seen.
It is for the heart to understand and feel.
Everything under the sun has its flaws,
some real and vicious laws of nature.
But if we recognize them as they are,
delight in the good side of everything,
ugly circumstances as they may seem.
Beauty in our hearts will always remain.

Love and Deception

It started with one call
A silly girl’s prank
I shouldn’t have agreed
I have my decency.

You were fooled by my friend
Gave you a false name
She laughed with you at ease
I listened with such tense.

Suddenly, she was gone
The phone was in my hand
I heard your warm voice
Reluctantly, I spoke.

You didn’t realize
Didn’t seem to notice
It had been a tease
Thus, began a tale of lies.

Some things to clarify;
I am a lady
I have my dignity
I think myself highly.

But to hear you- a treat
To know you more- a gift
What am I to do?
You know I love you.

For every deception
I’d given up my soul
For every sweet lies
I’d swallowed my pride.

Caught in my own game
A web of my own making
My conscience haunts me
The truth must be free.

Will you love me for being me?

No more laughter, no more cajoling

Poor soul, how they mock him
How they tease him
But, they wouldn’t dare tell him.

My lover waits
Grows impatient by the minute.

He doesn’t understand

My heart hurts more
Ironies of life
Unfair, unjust!

Here I am trapped with him
When I should be with you
Yet, how would you know?
You have chosen another.

Frantic footsteps approaching
Angry, worried whisperings
Searching for me
I can only smile bitterly.

Go on find me!
Burn this place if you please!
Warm liquid in my eyes
My soul cries.

Life barbarism!
Man selects his woman as he desires
A woman waits to be seen
Why can’t a woman walk up to the man she pleases?

Easy talk below, assurances
Finally he is leaving
But, I won’t budge
Not just yet.

Let me dry my tears
That I can be stronger
To crawl out into the world once more.

Imperfections-
such faults of men.

You can only sympathize,
being human as they are.
To trust and hope,
for the good within their hearts.

Birth
MMV Abad Jan 2011
When does life begin?
At the crack of dawn,
as a new born wails
in the arms of his mum?

In his early teens?
When discoveries unfold,
first heart-aches seen?
Trials of a man-child.

Or, in his forties?
Serious commitments,
responsibilities,
as the body deteriorates?

Life starts with a promise.
First rays of the sun,
then suddenly demise
into big drops of rain.

Life can be bitter.
Yet, if we can see through…
Accept life better.
Only then, we can breathe.
'Celebrating life.'

Dawn
MMV Abad Sep 2010
Starless night,
no fear but tears and gloom.
Icy heart,
breaking with ceaseless pain.
Memories,
dark shadows of today.
You I see,
and yearn for yesterday.
Closed pages,
bitter end of friendship.
Heart aches,
mine tonight to keep.
Dawn’s promise,
new morning light to see.
As heart mends,
lonesome memories fade.

Lover’s Illusion
MMV Abad Sep 2010
My heart melts with his gaze,
quiet smiles of his.
He adores me.

His confident whispers,
Sweet tickles in my ears.
He confides in me.

Such a true gentleman,
my delightful romance.
He cares for me.

He writes my initials,
so unique and special.
He’s in love with me.

Alas, the truth unveils,
a beloved, he speaks.
She is not me.

Why Do People Die?
MMV Abad Aug 2011
Why do people die?
My deepest agony.
Once it was natural,
today it’s personal.

Why do people die?
My pain, my sarcasm.
Once my life was perfect,
now it’s a complete wreck.

Why do people die?
Silly question I ask.
We knew all the answer.
Yet I painfully ask.

Why do people die?
Now feel my spirit break.
Missing her, missing him.
Why do they have to die?

A Poem for Me
MMV Abad Sep 2011
Do me a poem my sweet.
Recalling our younger years.
How we used to write notes.
Now, my heart longs for your words.

I want a poem my dear.
I’ll treasure every bit of it.
Make it sweet or corny,
I promise, I will be happy.

You said, you have lost touch.
Tried and tried but, no such luck.
No more beautiful rhymes.
Yet, still… I know you’ll find the lines.

I know you do love me.
This fact, I am always certain.
Your gestures say it all.
Do me a poem, don’t let me down.

Write me a poem, my love.
You know I can make the words.
I can say what you feel.
But, it is never the same.

I want a poem from you.
Write your promise that is so true.
Make me smile, my darling.
Let me fall in love again.

I Belong to You
MMV Abad Feb 2011
Everything was white
smell of flowers in the air
Slowly I emerged
bouquet of roses in my hands
Mixture of feelings
terror… happiness
I can still be free
not knowing what’s in store for me
The handsome man gazes
His eyes full of warmth
Silent words of love
I knew where to go

I Was a Bird
MMV Abad Aug 2010
Gentle rays of the morning,
beautiful promise of dawn.
As the land lays unmoving,
I spread my wings against the sun.

The clearest blue horizon,
serene, magnificent heavens.
A gay feeling of freedom,
I soar towards the open seas.

The world has lost its splendor,
barren lands… poisonous waters.
With the rise of new cities,
doom befalls the earthly creatures.

Sadness betrays my proud heart.
My hunger and my great losses,
heavy trials for my strength.
Still, I soar with the highest hopes.

One day, I shall have my home,
to dwell with mg daughters once more.
For now, I have my haven,
in the glorious sky above.

Alas, pain rips trough my chest,
blood gushes from my tiny heart.
Shot by hunters from the earth,
I plunge into the deepest sea.

A victim of man’s madness,
I am the last of my kind.
This is my tale of sadness,
my wasted life as an eagle.

Love Eternal
MMV Abad Sep 2010
Look at that lady,
she seems so happy.
Clutching a pink note,
she smiles and drives off.

A sweetheart awaits her,
her delightful lover.
Her past and her future,
today’s imperfection.

Love is in her face,
her lips, a sweet taste.
Her cheeks a faint blush,
her bright eyes, a hush.

She stops by a garden,
wild flowers of Eden.
Such magnificent sight,
marvelous as her heart.

A red rose she picks,
one of her favorites.
Unto it, she plants,
a tender loving kiss.

She heads off once more,
enjoying good thoughts.
Steady pace quickens,
heart pounding, she sprints!

She misses him dearly,
needs him very badly!
She wants his loving kiss,
his gentle, warm embrace!

Hot, longing tears stream down,
she sobs without a sound.
Before her a white tomb,
resting place of her love.

On her lover’s tomb,
she sets down the rose.
She takes out his note,
his last message of love.

A prayer she utters,
devotion of lovers.
Someday, another time…
To be together again.

Dying Light
MMV Abad Jan 2011
She looks at the horizon,
blue-violet against the sun.
Fading into the open sea,
calm as her breath.

A sudden pain in her chest,
her heart beats fast.
Fear grips her down.
But, wanes with her moan.

She remembers laughter,
beautiful memories.
She remembers life trials.
How she conquered them all!

She remembers love,
all she took and gave.
She remembers nothing more,
no ill feelings within her.

She smiles and stares,
beyond the fading light,
past the emerging stars.
Finally, she’s at peace.
'A beautiful death.'
