for you

i.
we were on the phone
silence filling the line
until you shoveled through
and asked me
if it was just you
or were we both toothily grinning over each other

that was a trip on the pavement
that resulted in scraped knees

ii.
once again,
i enabled the silence
to pervade through us
that was until you came out with it
y o u ' r e
s a d ,
a r e n ' t
y o u ?

that was a slip off a ladder
that resulted in a sprained ankle and wrist

iii.
i spoke the painstaking truth
of fat and not-good-enoughness
i spoke of pressure and ugliness
and you saw through the flaws
as if they were perfectly normal

that was a freefall off a cliff
that resulted in a comatose state
where i had nothing to live off of
except your love

dear Lord
do not let
these stars
tremble at night but
do not let them
out of our sight
the stars that
bring us
this sweet light
Two instructors of philosophy
sat down and started talking
their conversation was in depth
and so, they ceased their walking
the topic that these men discussed
had each on different sides
and the gap that formed between them
was miles and miles wide

"I swear you haven't got a clue"
"You just don't want to hear"
"The world is round as round can be"
"It's shaped just like a sphere"

"You idiot, you do not know"
"Just look, the world is flat"
"The world has got four edges"
"And that my friend is that!"

"You can not mean that in this world"
"There's an edge that is the end"
"That is right dear sir"
"The land just does not bend"

"You can sit and tell me that"
"and still keep a straight face"
"What keeps people grounded"
"and stops them shooting into space"

"the fact, that land is flat my friend"
"is a plain as plain can be"
"have you ever seen a waterfall?"
"have you tried to bend a tree?"

"Dear sir, sit down and listen close"
"and look up at the sun"
"it has just two dimensions"
"it needs another one"

"The sun is flat as well dear sir,"
"It just hangs up in the sky"
"It has a front, the moon's the back"
"you can see it if you try"

"Have you seen this new invention"
he asked, opening his robe
"It's a 3d model of the earth"
"my friend, it's called a globe"

"the world is flat, it is not round"
"it has depth, and width, that's all"
"you see the corners of the earth"
"it's not shaped like a ball"

"If you hold a pebble, to your head"
"and drop it down"
"does it fly away in space?"
"no, it drops on to the ground"

"a mountain range....inflexible"
"Like your mind, my learned friend"
"If you travel off, at some point sir"
"you will surely hit the end"

"the only end needs hitting here"
"Is the one upon your neck"
"to knock some **** sense into you"
"you're a closed myopic wreck"

"water doesn't bend a bit"
"it would not make your point true"
"it doesn't have to bend dear sir"
"it's a concept that is new"

"next you will tell me"
"there's a force we can not see"
"that keeps us all here grounded"
"and pulls the apples from the tree"

"I'm not sure of that one sir"
"but as sure as there is sound"
"the sun revolves around us"
"and that makes the world round"

"do you ever see it moving"
"back to where it came"
"of course not, it's in motion"
"it's called an orbit, that's it's name"

"I'm not sure if we go round"
"of if we are sitting still"
"but one day we will find it out"
"I'm certain, that we will"

"Arguing this point with you"
"about a round world or one flat"
"will continue on in circles"
"That's where my world is at"

"we will not be in agreement"
"as to which of us is right"
"we will never see the moon sun change"
"if we both sit here all night"

"we will have to let the prophets"
"in the future prove us wrong"
"and now sir, it is supper"
"and we both should move along"

I'm not a very religious person anymore,
But I understand why people are
I understand people need something to hold on to
Because we're all just trying to get through life, when really we haven't got a clue

We grasp on to what we can
When we're drowning in pain
When we wish we could just escape from our own brain
Anything, even the smallest ounce of hope
Just something to help cope

To cope with the sorrow of yesterday
The chaos of today
The uncertainty of tomorrow
We all need a little something
To get us through
When we're feeling blue

she was quiet
without a single breath and then

but when I
leave they do
all
the bad things

and all the breath escaped
and she was very much
like a child on her bed
wet fingers curled
around her face

I’m going through withdrawals. How awful it is to have to keep yourself from speaking to someone because you know if they wanted to speak to you, they would. I’m so deeply rooted in the sand that no waves that crash on land could overturn me. Your footprints are leading away from me, you are moving further and further down the shoreline, your outline growing smaller, smaller, smaller, blending in with the horizon where the sun is setting in lovely shades of red. I do not fear that you will not be loved, because even now I see how the birds adoringly sing your name. I fear the drops of saltwater that fall down my face each solemn night will one day be able to collect into ocean of their own. I fear the birds will be able to love you better than I have. I fear that this titanic amount of heaviness weighing on my heart will be ever-present. Your name is written in the clouds, and I cannot escape it, for no matter how far I run, I can never escape the sky. When I look up, there it is and so are you.

Love is….
The feeling you get when your stomach suddenly becomes an expert gymnast doing expert somersaults.

The sound of your heart beating a million miles a minute echoing the raindrops in a monsoon.

The sight of beautiful eyes, the eyes of your dreams, wanting yours to meet theirs.

The smell of a man, in all his forms, radiating from his arms wrapped around you.

The taste of the future, the texture of happiness, upon the palet of forever
