Just a few words
For tonight there is little
I care to express
In the form of a riddle
It ripples the river
Enforces its motions
Turns time into sand
As I gaze upon oceans
Intangible as it may be
It can dream
It is capable of anything
I believe
It deceives
Me to leave
Her again and delete
Its arch-enemy, memory
Still so replete
With the bittersweet
Strawberry decadent
Sentiment
Dripping in red
In my head
Where the dead lament
No present threat to you
Grim but benevolent
Split between ego and shadow
Like Harvey Dent
I am the mind
Inside mine
The Omniscient
Michael Marchese Jan 2022
Not trying to change you
Contain you
Or save you
Intentions are only
To learn
What unmade you...

Unmade...
And unmade...
And unmaiden
And bade you
Be bladed and crazed,
Come with irons and chains
And enraged
You engage me
And muses are played

And we sway and we stay
For a minute
Away
And we think of each other
I know it someway
Michael Marchese Aug 2020
Dead to you
To the world
All the same
None to blame
For eventually
Even entombed
Would I stray
Run away
Never stay
In one place
For too long
It is just like you said,
I was already
Gone
Michael Marchese Aug 2023
You would seem
So far away,
So old and gray
From me astray
Estranged in nightly,
Out of sightly
Slightly differing decay
Complacent discontent
Is swept
Under delusions
Wanting more,
What more perfections,
Burning questions
Could you possibly
Need answers for?
Is no
Togetherness
Of us
Enough to turn our bones
To dust
What must
Befall
Before it’s just
All future ideation
Hushed
Michael Marchese Jan 2023
Know I will hunt you
Beyond
Where you rest
May your legacy
Wither and wane
Dispossessed
Of the power
You lorded
Unmercifully,
Unrelentingly
Binding
The meaning of free
To conditional terms
And relinquishing rights
So we feel more secure
When all turns to black
Sites
Michael Marchese Jul 2017
I could run to the ends of the earth
But she'd find me
Still hiding myself from the days
That remind me
Of falling in more
Than a pit of despair
My descent into love
Was a cavernous lair
Where the light at the end of the tunnel
Was blinding
But still as my shadow was she there beside me
Enveloping severed tie contracts unwinding
Confining my wandering conscious to climbing
A vast range of mountains
To swim in the skies
So that I might behold her
With worthier eyes
Michael Marchese Aug 2017
Beseeching now the sonic heavens
Seeking for accord to find
The clashing titan symphonies
That prove their muse is most divine
Unto my mind's tranquility
She whispers of the ocean's roar
As Aphrodite tickles toes
The nereids lovely voices soar
Above the selfish dins and sins
A wispy dragon's spirit flies
Azure scales bejewel the breeze
In prisms of translucent skies
Arisen humanist condition
My surrealist exhibition
Abstract art asceticism
This is my Elysian vision
Timeless in a Gilded Age
Where all may dream of being free
To Helios I offer peace
And sacrifice the Ares me
Michael Marchese Nov 2021
Could say that I made it
To summit
And plummeted
Pulled myself up
And got back
To the top of it
Stopping for only
A moment
To breathe
To receive the tranquility,
From troubles leave
But returned to the struggle,
The downward descent
Like an addict who still
Gets his fix on lament
Michael Marchese Feb 2019
Though not yet defeated
I deign to refrain
From persistent deceiving
My efforts in vain
Are instead of importance
Engendering change
Could it be
So naive
To believe
I contain
Any worthy, exemplary
Character traits
Individuate me
Among all candidates
Who elect to defect
From oppressive execs
And exchequers exacting
Exploitative wealth
But self-serving
Is surely
Intended in each
Of the altruist parable
Pennings I preach
Of the lingua franca
Fratricidals I teach
And the lesson I learn
I discerned in this callous
Misanthropomorphic
Irascible malice
The Persian incursion
The Chinese disease
The Russian invasion
American dreams
But it’s greed
Begets all
Of the conflict
We crave
Underscores
All the wars
We so minimum
Wage
Even what we complain
About
Just a contrivance
The unspoken
Token
Vote
Chokehold
Of tyrants
So long as the piracy,
Plunder
And spoils
Persist
Unabated
Enriching the royals
Then trust we shall vanquish
The bogeyman villainy
Scapegoating pillory
Only when at their
Expense
The artillery
Won’t forget
Who in debt
Puts the food on my plate
Got me tech
To connect
Us together
It’s great
Like a state
Entered into
Ensuring its promises
Profits
Provisions
Protecting
Its provinces
Offices staffed
Bureaucratically stacked
With such cracks
In the surface
As terrorists backed
Michael Marchese Aug 2016
I used to believe
There could be something more
At the end of this life
That was worth striving for

To live for each day
Despite all of the pain
My body could rot
By my soul would remain

I imagined a force
Of omnipotent grace
Vast kingdom of clouds
Would be my resting place

Earth drifts through the void
Time never to slow
Yet consciousness seeds
Would continue to grow

To see so much hate
Tear people apart
Yet still think that love
Could mend each broken heart

I knew not of greed
Of wrath, envy and lust
In the good of mankind
I could still place my trust

I kissed the sun's rising
Embraced the dawn's light
Until the sun's setting
Consumed me in night

Then darkness seeped in
Through the pores of my skin
And flowed through each vein
Like a sickness within

Now I live for each day
But feel only the pain
As this corpse slowly rots
From my blackened soul stain

The truths that I knew
Were serpent-tongued lies
My idols and angels
Fell dead from the skies

Reality's anchors
Dragged me to the depths
Eternity's oceans
Flooded my breaths

Disaster and death
Plague, famine and woe
I questioned how God
Could torture us so

Heaven's gates locked
My paradise lost
The price of my sins
Was too high a cost

Condemned without faith
All hope to conceive
Of the salvation dreams
That I used to believe
Michael Marchese Aug 2022
It’s like time just elapses
I’m there in its passage
But absent
Somewhere unbeknownst
Is detachment
From make this a memory
Cherish serenity
Let it define
Reassign your identity
To the Book Facing
Erased
Interpersonal
Words left unsaid
Ever dread
Irreversible
Say your goodbyes
To the moment
And look
To the future
As if
You are now off the hook
For recalling
What made it
Indelible,
Sellable
Some crowning moment
Achievement
More credible
Michael Marchese Aug 2019
Give thanks
To the drawing of breath
In each step
Of the liquid life
Passing your lips
To exist and be with
Those your love can’t resist
And regret not
Mistakes you have made,
And remade
Prices paid
And replayed
In your head
As you sought to redeem
Your transgressions instead
Of your blessings
In counting them
Maybe you’d see
There is little to fret about
No malady
Making ill
The unwilling
For granted, take health
Or to measure their worth
In material wealth
Michael Marchese Feb 2022
Take up my perch
And resume
Thoughts of you
Plan ahead
What to say
At our next
Rendezvous
What to play
Listed out
Bits and pieces of songs
All remind me of you
When you can’t come along
And as I gaze upon
The Pacific
I ponder
Just how aimlessly
Without you
Could I wander
Michael Marchese Jul 2021
There must be the end
Of the darkest tranquility
Silently,
Virally,
Into senility
Spiraling into
A bottomless
Pit
From the tempest tirades
I created the glitch
And a twitch into selfishly normalcy’s
Itch
In relinquished resistance
To actively
Passively
Still in existence
Oppose it,
Expose it,
Reveal its facades
And bring structures
To crumble
Like Titans
To gods
Michael Marchese May 2018
Never quite knew
What went on in your head
I just knew we felt comfortable
Lying in bed
So we did it again
And again
And again
We were both of us certain
Someday it would
End
Michael Marchese Feb 2017
It's like being reborn
As the parts of you die
That you never needed
To see the whole truth
In a radiant sky

It's a breath of fresh air
As you exhale the fumes
Of emotional engines
Converting the smog
To utopian blooms

It's freeing the mind
To its limitless bounds
By tasting the breeze
While wafting the trees'
Synethesia sounds

It's the coolest dude ever
New kid on the block
As he's walkin' the talk
Of a boy wonder rockin'
His cuckoo mind clock

It's like stepping outside
Of yourself to reflect
On the blank screens of life
That you must unplug
To then reconnect

It's unlocking the powers
Of all life on Mars
Through opening portals
Transcending dimensions
And fusing with stars

It's a rebel alliance
Promethean flames
Socializing like Che
As Robin Hood's playin'
His own hunger games

It's light as a feather
And still tons of fun
It can all be made real
With just a few words
On the tip of my tongue
Michael Marchese Sep 2020
Just give me a forum
A pen and a pad
And I’ll write you,
Recite you,
The speeches I’ve had
For the audience
Drowning out
Thoughts in my head
Will revolt
Without plentiful
Circus and bread
So the mob
And the masses
The plebeian horde
I appeal to
Revealed through
The edge of the sword
All I have sacrificed
Given
Permitted
By seeking asylums
To which I’m committed
In more ways than one
With the refugees
Numb
To the wounds
We’ve inflicted
As lord of the slum
Bidding done
In the shadows
Or flooding the zone
And regardless
What pile of ****
Sits the throne
I alone cannot save us
Just stark raving
Madly
Homegrown
Terror
Raise us
To less ill-informed,
More illumined,
Dissent
To consenting
Too big to failed
Experiment
Michael Marchese Apr 2017
This town is dead
I am the ghost
A shadow of these spooky streets
From riverbed to battlefield
I stir with solemn specters
As hills besieged with screams
Of fallen Yankee renegades
And restless rebel revenants
Still haunt my union dreams
Michael Marchese Sep 2024
But no one wants
Trauma
The triggers
The switches
The wounds
Never heal
Until buried
In ditches
And tearing at seams
Of the poorly sewn stitches
Cannot be resisted
When tragedy strikes
When the moment’s
Resurgence
Resurfaces plights
And when sickness ensues
And envelops the nights
It’s this desperate outcry
Silently
My pen writes
Michael Marchese Sep 2018
Even when
I do not
Seem to have you
I do
I step with you in stride
Every day I get through
I contain you inside
My sole essence of being
And restless I think of you
Always as leaving
Me grieving, in search of
The tallest of peaks
To behold of your splendor
It renders me weak
And depleted, worn, weathered
And weary ascending
Still ardently seeking
Your love never-ending
Michael Marchese Oct 2018
I will bathe you in rivers of blood
'Till you see
There is no revolution
Without some of me
Not a page in this history book
Could be turned
Nor its secret society's
Shadows be burned
Without my procreation's
Next unheeded seed
Without my ravenous
Dark desire to breed
To be freed from the civilized man's
Inner-peace
To be summoned from depths
Of his inner-most beast
And set loose upon
Innocent flesh to devour
To sever and rend and smite down
To seize power
Is yours simply if
You succumb to my will
Let me show you
How easy
It can be
To ****
Michael Marchese May 2024
Somewhere
Along the way
Became the man
From once the boy
Not in an instant
But a litmus
Test
His limits
Could destroy
And what he saw
Not what he conquered
What he squandered
All the time
For he observed it
Then reverberated
Learning
To define
What constitutes
His attributes
As archetypically
Adult
And what refutes
His stance
And stature
As the leader
Of some cult
Michael Marchese Apr 2018
The man who has everything
Dollars and sense
Luxury, leisure time
White picket fence
May have found what he wants
What they tell him he wants
Or what he really needs
For his own renaissance
But without a proportionate
Body mind soul
He is merely a part
Of some destiny’s role
Michael Marchese Apr 2017
Prometheus ignites to spark this
Molotov to make his Marxist
On swine Fuhrer's Faux News tweet
Hashtag it #GorbachevWallStreet
'Cuz Putin's puppet Pinochet's
Whipped Creme de Kremlin's CIA
From JFK to Allende
Like Russian roulette ricochet
I'll Trotsky through McCarthy's brains
Leave slain these ****** sugar Keynes
Discred' the Fed’s six-figureheads
With strikes at dawn more red than Debs
Still breakin' breads with Mulan Bouges
Makin' men of Khmer Stooges
Seein’ Rouge when Al Spans Greens
Potemkin loan wolf ponzi schemes
Who count the sheep like Philippines
Then Black Pearl Harbor GRANMA’s dreams...

Of Marilyn Monroes in store
Just off-shore ****** who **** the poor
A Glass of Steagall's broken trust
Half emptier than bowls of dust
In rust beltways still spewin’ fumes
As factories become Khartoums
No carbon footprint tax the hint
Of Amazon decays in Flint
Just pop the caps and drown in debt
Like Kent State drinkin' to forget
That cuttin’ class engenders race
Leaves glory, gold and God's disgrace
To slaughter Moor than Reconquista
From Marti to Sandinista
With Zapata sharin’ crops
Till my Mexica heartbeat stops

I'm Pancho infiltratin’ villas
The Magilla of guerillas
In the midst of Congolese
Same colonies, just different thieves
To me, my breed’s of landless deeds
So how you like ‘dem Appleseeds?
FReeducatin’ caves of youth
Fed Citizen’s United Fruit
‘Cuz now my open eye of Horus
Battle cries Grito de Lares
Che is centered in these veins
So my Ashoka takes the reigns
These Iron paci-Fists pack hits
Like Jimi on some Malcolm ****
Still Hajj mirages I barrage
The Raj with sheer Cong camouflage

Deployin' Sepoys on viceroys
And pol desPots’ in the employs
Of Tweedledums who run the slums
With country clubs of loaded guns
These Betsy Deez bear arms to school
Till no kids fly kites in Kabul
So gas mask your Sharia flaw
I'll Genghis Khan Sheikoun it raw
'Cuz refugees are rising
And we're anti-socializing
Subsidizing private party plans
Who take commands from ***** hands
These grand old klans coup klux control
Your diamond minds with mines of coal
An oil Standardized existence
Solar powers my resistance

******* sun of Liberty
My fear itself is history
Rewriting wrongs of Leo’s creed
In culture’s blood and vulture’s greed
An alt-right/all-white cockpile
Stockpilin' human capital
In tricklin’ contests over spoils
Of the cotton-ceded soils
Jingos chained to Cruci-fictions
Swallowin' good Christian dictions
I spit Spanish Inquisition
Trippin' Socrates sedition
Droppin' Oppen's fission quest
For "now I am become death"
'Cuz G-bay pigs in-Fidel's sites
Flew U-2's into my last rights

These Saddamites, I smite Assad
Then spread 'em like Islamabad
Convert for-profit prison tsars
From Escobars to Bolivars
Like currency in Venezuela
Current police-state favela
Where 9/10th's of your possession's
Worth less than your Great Depression’s
Upscale bail ‘em outs of jail
With Dodd-Frank banks too big to fail
Your FDA-approved psychosis
From Campos’ daily dose of
More defense? Here’s my two cents
These slave wages ain’t excrements
So just say no to Reaganomics
Got us hooked, but not on phonics

Just that Noriega strain
Of Contras stackin' crack contain
Like MAD dogs who trade weapons-grades
For Ayatollah hate tirades
On “don’t ask, don’t tell” plague ebonics
Drug crusAID Jim Crow narcotics
Warsaw rats injected, tested,
Quarantined, and then arrested
Guess the J. Arbenz' lens
Still Tet offends their ethnic cleanse
Still Wounding Knees of Standing Sioux
Till Crazy Horses stampede you
For Mother Nature’s common ground
My Martin Luther’s gather ‘round
Is hellbound sounds of Nero’s crown
Let's burn this Third World Reichstag down

Vox populyin’ to remove ‘ya
Like Lumumba then Nkrumah
So some Pumbaa kleptocrat
Declares himself the next Sadat
To hide supply-side Apartheid
Increase demand for genocide
So check your factions in Uganda
Tune into Hotel Rwanda
Come play pirates with Somalis
Then desert ‘em like Benghazis
Thirst for blood so French Algiers
It boils mine in Trails of Tears
My destiny unManifest-
Oppressive Adam-Smitten West
So pay your overdues to Mao
I’ll Mussolini Chairman Dow

Then flood this 9th ward Watergate
With killing fields of glyphosate
I'll redistribute IMF’s
With Left so deft you’d think it’s theft
I’ll My Lai massacre these lines
With sweet Satsuma samurhymes
I'll make these Madoff Hitlers squeal
With that Bastille New Deal cold steel
Now feel that Shining Pathos wrath
Drop Nagasaki aftermath
On Nanjing kings and dragon’s Diems
With ****** bodhisattva zens
To show you how I pledge allegiance
With razed flags still rapt in Jesus
Laosy liars pogrom psalms
Can’t Uncle Phnom my Penh’s truth bombs

On heroes shootin' ******
My fix is un-American
Tiananmen democracies
To Syngman Rhee hypocrisies
Theocracies drive me Hussein
With Bush league’s mass destruction claim
So I dig laissez pharaohs graves
With pyramids of Abu Ghraibs
Then nail their coffers closed like Vlad
I AM THE GHOST OF STALINGRAD
My hammer forged in winters past
My sickle reaps the shadows caste
By pantheons of penta-cons
Whose Exxons lead to autobahns
When liberal Arts of War and Peace in
Free speech teach my voice of treason
“Fascism will come to America wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross”
-Sinclair Lewis
Michael Marchese Apr 2020
Don’t do it
For photo ops
Drops in the ocean
Of countries landlocked
In a box
Of emotionless
No self-promotion
Is known to this
Hopelessness
Open for business
But closed
To its promises
No profit-motive
Enriches this soil
A child with food
Shoes
And school books
Is spoiled
Yet toils still
Tilling
The barren waste
Rills
Cicatrizing the surface,
Eroding the hills
The foreboding,
Foreshadows,
Forecast
Upon vast
Splitting cracks
In an earth
Disappearing
Too fast
In the hazy horizon
Night tempest’s
Caprice
In precipitous
Rage
Ways of keeping
The peace
An itinerant,
Transient
Seeking
Enlightenment
Sees not the paving
Of slaves
In its bright intent
Michael Marchese Oct 2016
Born of Gaia's womb
    an Olympus beholder
Forsaken by Zeus
   fatherless, growing older
Promethean flame
   of mortality colder
Like Atlas I've carried
   the world on each shoulder
Condemned to the weight
   of my Sisyphus boulder
A Minotaur slaying
   Medusa's gaze holder
Lion amongst men
   an Achilles heel soldier
For argonaut strive
makes my fleece all the golder
As Icarus pride
   razes my wings to smolder
Beneath Helios
I will shine all the bolder
Releasing my mind
   from Pandora's enclosure
And Tartarus pits
   of my Hades exposure
No shears of Fates sever
   my heartstrings' disclosure
Andromeda bound
by the promise I told her
In fields of Elysian
once more I shall hold her
Michael Marchese Nov 2022
Working on
Working you in
To my life
So ineffably grateful
For you in my night
Come alight
The way forward
Evoke me bemused
You’ve renewed
My tomorrow
And heightened the mood
Still I brood
In the belfries,
The gallows,
The hole
And I barren wasteland
What remains of my soul
But I told you
You meant to me
More than goodbye,
Than the most divine
Acid high
Shapes in the sky
More than birds without wings
Could aspire to fly
It’s a little bit more like
Could happily die
Michael Marchese Nov 2023
Staunchly the vanguard
Far flung is my beachhead
And only the sirens
Have sung of my weakness
And lonely horizons
As distant as memories
Unparalleled
In bestowing serenities
Woe and beholding
Idyllic illusion
All coming to ruin
As foolish delusion
Intrusion deep into
My psyche sanctorum
Fixated on finding
My place in the forum
Beside the belied
Circumscribed
Happenstance
But encounters as resonant
Subject to chance
And entranced
Unperturbed
Or intrigued
I’m romanced
Just as easy as wind
Finds its way through the world
Just as natural
As any boy
Talks to a girl
Michael Marchese Jan 2022
Then I wrote you this text
After days
It feels waiting
The what is she doing
To my contemplating
And now it is later
And later
Creating
I’m just
Cosmic dust
And I rust
In her fading
Not much
For observation’s blinds
Unless they’re on
Vacation’s dimes
For time is of the essence
Of some all too precious
Prescience
And myopic are
The open eyes
Divining
Not a penchant
For an overload of senses
Mother Nature’s
Battle trenches
When transparency
Requires
Darker-shaded
Ethnic lenses
Michael Marchese Oct 2018
I pose as this person by day
Who admits
To the others, his brothers
No god he submits
To more regal in splendor
More real in its form
More unruly enraged in
Its wrath firestorm
None its equal in might
Of life-giving aflame
The sol only creator
False prophets disclaim
But in vain is my quest
To convince them or dare
For with all of their deities
Mine gladly shares
Its irrefutable
Undisputed dominion
Across the sky realms
Of religious opinion
And sets upon Earth
With its mercy in tow
Reappearing each day
As its progeny grows
To discover the omniscient
Secrets it frequents
In flight, alight bright
Until someday, we reach it
Michael Marchese Dec 2016
I spend so much time
At war in my head
I often forget
To bury the dead
Join forces with yours
To end the bloodshed
No need to bear arms
When there's peace to be spread
Michael Marchese Jan 2024
You think I’m unaffected
Disinfected from the plague
But I grow sicker
As we wither
And they bicker
In The Hague
So don’t mistake this
For indifference
Won’t enlist
In their campaign
Of genocide
And Bidenomics
And its proxy war
Ukraine
So keep decrying its inflation
Boast its by
The numbers game
I’d rather focus on
The ones who
Inhumanely
Test its aim
So don’t disown me
If I only
See an arsenal arrayed,
Object to pay
To play a role in its
Unjustified
Crusade
Michael Marchese Jul 2018
The ramshackle palisade walls
Still suggest
There are some on the outside
Still living with less
To be landless, condemned
Not an ox to your name
Not a patch of earth
Your ******* sons could lay claim
To an ounce of the harvest’s
Collectivized hunger
No sickle to stay
The red-handed warmonger
Just fireside chats
With the privileged elite
Of the mechanized master’s
Mass graves of deceit
Still replete with the power
The lions don’t dare
Cede enough to hyenas
To seize their fair share
Michael Marchese Nov 2019
Unheeded the warning
To not take to leading
An empire fleeting
Succeeded in meeting
A global trade quota
In breeding consumers
Like coca and cola
Place orders for new world
Disorderlies
Bordering
Neighbors in anger
Like free-raiding slavers
The ones who engrave
Condemnations
On strangers
Enflaming the tensions
Like Union secessions
Reclaiming your pensions
Like dispossessed peasants
Then pleasantly selling you
Greater Depressions
Inflating the price
Of each stock
Market crashed
As they’re harkening back
To the Gilded Age past
Mistakes made
By the master class
Fascist gas mask
Clasping racist ace cards
In their draft-dodging grasp
And enrapturing masses
Like pastors on acid
As faster the natural disasters
Leave gasping
The aftermath zeros
To sift through the trash heap
As scraps keep providing them
Something to eat
And that “just so it” psyche
No shoes on their feet
To compete in a race
To the top
Of the bottom
To watch it all topple
Like Hillary Rodham
Back down to this limitless growth
Swinging rope
And a hope and change slogan
In some brighter future
Where data-brain-drainers
Collude with polluters
And looters
To root out the suitable
Next active shooter
As losers keep playing
To win
Movin’ in
To the city
Of opportune sin
Get some skin in the game
Make a name
For your lack of fame
Minimum wage
And escape from the cage
That was sub-standard living
Conditions before
The New World Bank
Salvation
Uplifted the poor
With more freedom to choose
Than a grocery store
How to rot the core
Of this for-prophet war
Against forces that still
“Have-not”
Settled the score
Michael Marchese Jun 2017
Inside there's a nomad who wearily wanders
A barren expanse of still thirsting for more
He delves into the depths of the deserts he ponders
To count every grain on his sands of time shore
Yet his grasp on reality's setting sun squanders
All hope to make Edens of his rotten core
“Too great is the grief of this world, and I have only one heart bud. How can I pour all the desert’s sand into an hourglass?
-Emperor Aurangzeb (1618-1707)
Michael Marchese Feb 2017
I roll with the tide
As I surf the uproar
Of conscious tsunamis
Caressing the shore
Ebbing to the depths to find
The oceans felt before
Are just as fleeting as the waves
Of long-forgotten lore
Michael Marchese Mar 2018
March in the streets
But I urge you beware
They’ll still butcher the sheep
With the arms that they bear
Private properteers part with
No slave cropper’s share
So this Northern aggression's
Like Freeman’s red scare
All the colors of wind
Through the head-shavers’ hair
The Guevara adventures
These pigs wouldn’t D.A.R.E.
The Arabian knights
In the grand wizard’s lair
The denaturalized dreamer’s
Recurring nightmare
Of the Stalingrad ghost
Still witch-hunting like Blair
The projects to the precincts’
New modern welfare
The post-trauma disorderly’s
Empty screen stare
The savages they thought
Were waaaaayyyy over there
The debt clock ticky tock
In the heart of Times Square
The 1st world problem-children
Who commonwealth care
Because some barely EAT
And we’ve so much to spare
But these cowherds still like their calves
Medium rare
And the bulls try to sell you
Their laissez-faire snare
Till your trapped in a minimum cage’s
Last prayer
And the only escape
Is upgraded software
Like automaton autobahn’s
In disrepair
In this fascist facade’s
Fragrant breath of fresh air
Just as toxic as stocks
Of the mock billionaire
So I shock ‘em like Tesla’s
Bolt-action Voltaire
And I leave it to you
To go **** it out there
Michael Marchese Oct 2016
All weapons of
   the fates you've sealed
Are no match for
   this pen I wield
The power to
   articulate
Ticking rhyme bombs
   to detonate
The conflicts waged
   gambling mankind
My perfect hand
   is treaties signed
Hellbent hounds pray
  like dogs, I hunt
Frontline this notebook
  battlefront
With metaphors
  of mindless drones
Like similes
  to brainwashed clones
Whose C4 booms

Can't build bridges

Or tear them down

By rusting through

Flamethrowin’ my

Released from my

To free my press

Oppressing haiku

Expressions of

Omitted by

Ink cartridges
  strapped 'round my neck
I print no charge

And ****** every

Domestic violence

Obsolete

Open carry

Empty shell case

So grip this peace

**** my diction

Vaporized
Nuclear skies
Dehumanized
Before your eyes
Let shadows stain
Your throne of lies
And downfall reigns
Fill your warhead
With haunting cries
Of burning dread
When no replies
Or tears are shed
For the melted, faceless dead
No peace is spread
No words revised
In treaties forcing all complies
Pledge to disarm
Then supersize
The god complex
Hellbent disguise
Is worn instead
As profits rise
For sycophantic
Suits and ties
The circling vultures' hunger fed
On stuffing pocket carnage prize
Then hollow carcass speech is read
And every empty promise said
Selling us this freedom guise
While purchasing our dark demise
And sharing it
With our allies
Until all cents of life is bled
At the expense of those who've pled
To end the violence
We devise
An age of terror we have led
As hate and fear in flesh embed
A fusion bomb
That greed has bred
The human race
Runs ever-red
Mankind erased
And in its stead
A fallout zone
Is our deathbed
Michael Marchese Oct 2024
Could be verge of all collapsing
On the brink of giving in
But when I get there
Weight is lifted
And the blissful can begin
And when I see it
Stand beside it
In bewildered
Awe-inspired
Is the restlessness
Of past transgressions
Finally retired
What transpired
Be it sordid
Or unfortunate
Or scary
Is diminished
To the minuscule
Minutiae
That I bury
In the sand between my toes
The ebb and flows
The drift away
From all the gloom
Marooned again
Upon the solace shores I lay

Seeing old friends
With the ease
Of old times
In conversing
As seamless
As everything’s fine
Just like
We were kids again
Solace in laughter
Organic
Comes natural
The jesting,
The banter,
And see you soon’s
After
Michael Marchese Jul 2017
Cold settles down in the basement
Tornadoes of darkness engulfing the room
The black magic tricks have revealed all my secrets
As faint recollections of graveyards in bloom
For the gloom is a tomb ever-looming at noon
When I take to the skies to remind me of eyes
That could cut through the midnight
Of life like a knife
Digging into my veins where it offers respite

From the hellfire rage as it surges in vain
So alive with the pride of a lion untamed
But my lioness hides behind thinly-veiled lies
And knows not of the wild she's holding inside
Where as kings and as queens
We would build an empire
Atop where our bones
Fall asleep with desire

The child we'd bear as a cub would grow strong
It would stumble and hunger to show off its claws
But we'd teach it to humble its powerful jaws
And we'd raise it to mountains
We'd bathe it in rivers
We'd give it the world
And then watch as it withers

Together, connected the cycle of truth
Is the circle of life that falls prey to a web
Of the time-weaving spiders
That crawl in our head
And the space that divides us
In food pyramids
But we pharaohs unite us
Into myriads
Of prismatic perspective
Each soul is an artist
Each heart is a stroke
Of an inner-peace harpist
No God could evoke
With a chorus of angels
More pure and divine
Than the meaning of being
We humans define

Check your ego at the door
Your comfort zone is furthermore
Enclosed, exposed, yet still expands
Encompassing extensive spans
Of new frontier’s unsettled other
Realms you have yet to discover
Fresh perspectives, innovation
To the single mind equation
Questions previously asked
But answered by a silence masked
By you alone to dread exist
Confirming biases persist
The never wrong unchallenged me
So suddenly, thinks differently

One bad seed is all it takes
To rot the apple to its core
One bad egg, the dozen breaks
Before it even leaves the store
The hungry clean the mess this makes
And still they never ask for more
Than one last supper's talking snakes
Which empty cups of all the *poor

Almost got started
Priority-setting
But much more preferred
The spontaneous dreading
Each second it isn’t
According to plan
By how much I have learned
But still don’t understand
Everyone is so happy
In same day stagnation
Don’t dare deviate from the path
To salvation
Just wait
It gets better
Before ever worse
We can think and feel pain
It’s a gift not a curse
To be lonely
The only known creature
Aware
It is solely
The lowliest
Medium rare
