A lover I used to know

Told me it was time for her to go

Said that she had enough

Of my bein' rough 'n' tough

And that she'd find someone new

Who'd love her through and true

Boy it took me by surprise

To see teardrops in her eyes,

Suitcases coverin' the floor,

And her body halfway out the door

She wasn't bluffin' this time

Her heart was no longer mine.

Why I let her go

I do not know.

I was livin' life too fast

And now that moment's past.

So many things I coulda said

But I was silent instead.

Wanna lay my weary head on her chest

And hear her heart beatin' beneath her breast

Wanna kiss the florid of her cheeks

And capture every word she speaks

Wanna tell her it's a joy to be alive

Having her right there by my side

But she don't wanna hear that anymore.

Cause I let her walk right through that door.

You let a good girl slide away

There'll be a heavy price to pay.

There's no time like today

To man up and say

"I love you"...

Cause that's what real men do.

It’s the end of an eventful year;
The new beginning is finally here.
Good and bad times have come and gone
Yet through it all you carried on.

As you take a sip of tonight’s champagne
Think back on this year, both of the joy and pain.
Remember all of the friends you made
Both those who left and those who stayed.

Through it all you’ve grown into someone new;
A stronger and wiser you.

Happy New Year!

I don't have the typical rapper's dream,
Aimin' for the bling, the glitter 'n' gleam.
If I ever get famous, one of the lucky few,
I want to be passionate about what I do.

Don't wanna be pennin' lyrics just for cash,
Takin' advantage of my fans, releasin' trash.
Music today is about the money, not the heart,
So I figure lookin' to myself for change's a good place to start.

Gonna put in the hard work, the long hours,
Gonna do everything in my power,
For the music.

I'm proud to say that I'm a Memphis man,
But I will rise above my roots...I know I can.
The squalor of the inner city ain't got nothin' on me,
I'll work my way outta here and one day I'll be free.

You know I love my family, my city, and my home,
But I'm sorry baby, this man was born to roam.
Though I'll be leavin' one day, I'll keep with me a picture of you.
And that gorgeous 'lil smile on your face will pull me through.

I'll never forget this town, and I'll never forget you.
But a man has gotta do what a man has gotta do.
I gotta see the world.

Saw a pretty girl the other day,
But found myself with nothin' to say.
Really wanted to tell her she was cute.
But the feelin's sorta turned me mute.

Sometimes ya just gotta be brave and take a chance,
And if you're lucky, it just might lead to romance.
As for me, I played it safe...played it silently cool
And now I'm sittin' here feelin' like a fool.

Maybe she would've liked me too,
Honestly I have no clue.
Just wish I'd spoken to her
Instead of actin' like an amateur.

Don't be afraid to take a leap!

All of those bigshots with their fancy suits and ties
Go 'round thinkin' they're better than us "lil guys"
So full of 'emselves, they think they own the Earth.
They look down on us, underestimate our worth.

But here's the deal, you all you elitist bigshots,
Have you ever worked hard, have you ever fought?
Come to the street, see our struggle, and then you'll see,
It actually ain't so easy livin' in the Big Easy.
