 Nov 2013 Marigold
Tim Knight
The Cam passes through
behind a chain hotel belonging to the Hilton
with its lights always on, a 24 hour midnight sun,
that lasts all day until a power cut comes along
and covers bedroom maids, halfway through a job,
in complete silence.

And home I go, slight lightening in the distance and
the road remains long, bending only once
and carrying on straight thereafter
mounting another road heading south until it meets no more ground,
except a bridge over a mouth of a river leading
to somewhere safer than here ever was.

My coat's corners misses your hand
and no expanse of green, mountainous land
could ever be sold or swapped for it.

Awoken
by pounding on the door
at two in the morn
stumble up
fumble with the lock
two of my dear friends
hammered and in shock
that I answered
Both beautiful
despite their state
before I could say,
"Hey"
They kissed my face
and bit my neck
hugged me
to and fro
I know they were
drunk
but those were
the first kisses
I've had in months
and months
I fell asleep
with a
smile

I'm having one of those days
Where my thoughts go South
And breathing gets tough
And icicles stick to my
Vocal chords
And the snow is so thick
That my blood striped hand
In front of my face
Disappears.
And eventually
After a while
I need a map
To find my way back
North.
But I'm so far South
That my fingers are too frigid
To make a snowman.
And my mind's too numb
To think South anymore.

we should glow together
we should form of a ball of flame we call home
a person is always living in the leaves
a jewel on the seacliff

Shanay Love
Temporarily,
our hands attach
almost refusing to part
Forever, I blush
the moment he looks
claiming me as
the pretty girl
butterflies in my tummy
I adorn the moments
If only they'd last forever

Then,
He leaves my sweaty palm
unattended
for the red head
I secretly despise
The butterflies are replaced
with a bitter sadness
as she walks away
with my lover

I wish I were a cigarette
Perched in-between your perfect arched lips
Breathe me into you
I'll swirl in smoke tendrils around your face
And then I'll happily fade away
Until you light up another later
Being your bad habit isn't so bad
If that's what I am to you,
I'll take it

i want to read you
the words that spill out,
ink on whatever is closest,
but for years now
i've been writing about
***, sadness, and sensations-
all wrapped round whoever
it is that's claimed a
piece of me

what will you think
of my weaknesses
spoken aloud?
swirling around the
room, bumping into
you, waiting to
be judged

i want to show you
what begins as a breath
and ends as a tale of
twisted love, but
i'm afraid all you'll
think of is me reading
the poems i write
about you to the
next one
