One party cares about the sick
Conservatives don’t give a lick
They think the folks should heal themselves
Or call upon some magic elves
Right wing people are  so blind
Their icon is the money sign
Which party shows a caring soul…
Conservatives don't have that goal

Noble solons help the poor;
The rich have guilt they cannot cure
What they need are warmer souls
Or a night in hell on hotter coals
The message might get thru to them;
Selfishness should be condemned
But right wing minds are seldom kind
They hardly understand God’s mind

One party helps the meek and small
Stands up for handicapped and all
They take the time to help us out
When tough economies come about
Conservatives should know the truth;
Their interests show the awful proof
So they’ll just have to swallow that...
Their God ignores the cruel facts

As a boy I whistled in the dark
Walking by those tall tombstones
When I'd glance at that old graveyard
Frigid air would freeze my bones
As a man I've never been that scared
Till I saw your closet bare
I felt like that boy at midnight
Seeking courage with a prayer

I'm whistling by the tombstones again
Since I hurt you and you left me
I can feel that icy wind
I'll never make it through
Tomorrows without you
I'm whistling by the tombstones again

In my mind I miss your pretty face
And my backbone feels a chill
I tremble like that lonesome boy
Passing cemetery hill
If you don't come back it's darker
Than those graveyard fantasies
Cause it's just a grim tomorrow
Unless your dreams including me

So please don't say that little fuss
Could end our fairytale
All my life I'd be whistling down
Life's long long lonesome trail

I'm whistling by the tombstones again
Since I hurt you and you left me
I can feel that icy wind
I'll never make it through
Tomorrows without you
I'm whistling by the tombstones again

Whose visions

Were established here

Where cold stones brush the sky

While mirrored in their icy grace

The homeless men walk by

Aesthetically

The Portman breed

Revised the urban face

How could such soaring intellect

Conceive this heartless place

I looked around me

For a noble man

Someone who could lead

A man a child could trust

Some man who never cheated

A man not owned by money

Some man who wouldn't lie

A man a child would trust

Some man that loves his God

Well he was hard to find

I looked at all the presidents

In the past United States

I evaluated judges and lawyers

I checked out sailors, doctors and  farmers

Just for one honest man

But none of them met the criteria

Until I remembered

Perhaps there is one

Just maybe…just maybe…

Barrack Obama

Why do we ever say goodbye
When we know this love won't die
We should not let pride mislead us
In our hearts it's clear we need us
We're so sure our dreams can fly
Why do we ever say goodbye

my nature craves a female

Your poetry could raise the dead
I felt it in your verse
Exploring deep within your poem
With hunger and a thirst

Your femininity was there
Your fragrance in the air
It made the animal in me
Rouse up to want you there

The gossamer upon your chest
Revealed the sweet outline
And there were two impressions
I kissed one at a time

I didn't mean to go too far
Just blame it on the need
I couldn't hold it longer
For passion took the lead

And, ah, the rapture deep within
Sent fire through my veins
The dream within a dream so real
It spoiled my Calvin Kleins

Though  good as any moment
Reality could present
The dream won't make me guilty
When I see the fallen tent

[I understand Shakespeare played every role around his theatre such as managing the theater, acting, directing, playright, etc, etc.  Too many responsibilities for one man.  He was treasurer and everything else.  What did he didn't do?  Was that true about him I ask in all humility]

William Shakespeare, wordsmith king…
Some people doubt he did all things.
Such teeming thoughts for just one man…
Perhaps Chris Marlowe had a hand
Among some others underfed
Who sold their work to buy some bread.
And Will for one bought many plays
Then claimed the work through present days.
No sweat upon his brow rolled down…
For those he claimed for shills and pounds.
That system shorted men with skill
And all those credits went to Will
And though the man was very great
He kept the profit on his plate

Should I still stretch

For new proverbs

And hope

They never age

While old truths fade

Each epoch's dawn

As worms digest

Each page

When I don’t have the answer
to a problem in my path
and I want to help my neighbor
show some love on his behalf
I’ll find words of wisdom
and an answer with some art
'make sure my intuition
comes directly from my heart

For it’s shaky ground to walk on
if no guidebook’s written yet
when words are loosely spoken
there’s reactions to be met
and I'll need a wise solution
with the words that I impart
for words are more enlightened
if it’s wisdom from my heart

So I'd say it's more than muscle
that sends life thru every vein
it's the ***** I believe
where your better angel reigns
it’s the station that He tunes to;
there’s no equal counterpart
and you’ll know you’re on His wave length
when His wisdom fills your heart

Some women hook you with a wee bikini
Still they're the better gender of the breed
They don't start a war in far off places
They're gentle in their souls and in their deeds

They always make their men feel more special
And though they spend some money at the mall
When you feel her wrap her arms around you
You know you're the one who's got it all

Women are the  greatest people going
Their heart upon their sleeve is always showing
She'll give you her last crumb
         My mother, she was one
Women are the greatest people going

One can make my heart beat like a hammer
And leave my soul more peace than I have known
There'll be no World War III if you heed her
She's got a lot of wisdom in her bones

         CHORUS

Bridge:
Good mommas train their boys to grow up nice
We'd all be kinder people if we took her advice

         CHORUS

Thoughts of her and I'm back home

So happy to be there

I'll pull her tresses free

And stroke her long soft hair

I'll linger kissing her

And pull her warm and close

Time stands still one more time

On that old  moonlit coast

It's surer than tomorrow

As I've learned she's kissed another

But yesterday...

We'll always have each other

Time goes backward

When I pass

Old sites I recollect

Where fantasy

And memory

Will somehow intersect
Louis Brown Jan 2012
I can see the old graffiti
Inscribed in purple paint
And words that say I love you
On the old town's water tank
The words are kinda faded
Though they still defy old time
But the story's clear as ever
On the pages of my mind

While I'm still hooked on yesterday and you
The writing on the wall says we're through
When I went off to fight the war
You met the man you'd waited for
So tell me now what I'm supposed to do
I'm still hooked on yesterday and you

There's the winding country road
Where I'd take you for a ride
When I'd turn that curve a little fast
You'd slide close to my side
Your lips were starting something
Before I could even park
As your fingers tangled in my hair
I could feel your pounding heart

        Chorus

Bridge:  I just had to come by one last time
Was not that heart you gave him
The one I thought was mine

       Chorus
Louis Brown Apr 2012
Today is where it's at the wise men say
But tomorrow's where it is for many men
I spend my time believing in another day...
Yesterday warmed over again.

Some folks say I'm only wasting time
But love like ours is just too good to end
So I take that direction as the only way...
Yesterday warmed over again

SO IF I SHOULD NEVER SEE HER LOVING  FACE
NEVER FEEL HER WARM LIPS BRUSH MY SKIN
I DON'T NEED THE LIES ABOUT TOMORROW
I NEED YESTERDAY WARMED OVER AGAIN

She ran away with someone new in town
Too full of life to stay and love one man
But she didn't know she left me with a sunny day...
Yesterday warmed over again

You were easy to take for granted
in the past
That explains just why
it  didn't last
I missed you here as soon
as you said goodbye
You know a good love
when it dies

I know how much it meant
to hold you close at night
'Know how much I need you...
since you're gone from sight
I know how to know
when true love passes by
You know how good it was
when it dies

I've lost a woman once
or thrice before
It might have hurt a month
or two--no more
But I still see
our memories going by
You know a good love
when it dies
Louis Brown Jun 2010
I'll ask 'em

While they still

Know it all

Before their I.Q.

Takes a mighty fall

Cause their knowledge

Will seem tiny

As their heads

Get bald and shiny

I'll ask 'em

While they still

Know it all

You're the prettiest
Of the songs
I ever wrote
You warmed every lyric
Every note
When I look at you my pen
Pours words that never end
Oh the goodness there
Is more than words can quote
You're the prettiest
Of the songs
I ever wrote
Louis Brown Sep 2012
I TORE UP YOUR SMILE
IN THE FRAME BY THE BED
TORE UP THE LOVE LETTERS
THAT I READ AND RE-READ
JOINED THE FUN AT A BAR
WHERE THEY POUR A GOOD BLEND
BUT YOUR SWEET MEMORY
JUST TORE ME UP AGAIN

CHORUS
I LAY WIDE AWAKE
COUNTING TEN THOUSAND SHEEP
CUZ IF I CLOSED MY EYES
YOU'D WALK IN MY SLEEP
I POUR DANIELS AND DICKEL
BUT MY SOLDIERS CAN'T WIN
YOUR SWEET MEMORY
JUST TEARS ME UP AGAIN

MY PSYCHIATRIST TOLD ME
SON, WHEN YOU'RE ALL THIS BENT
CALL UP AN OLD GIRLFRIEND
WITH A HEAVENLY SCENT
WELL, HER LIPS DID HER DAMNDEST
TO HELP AN OLD FRIEND
BUT YOUR SWEET MEMORY
JUST TORE ME UP AGAIN

CHORUS

                          Bridge:  I emptied your closet
But you still made your mark
Cause your ghost won't be leaving
Till you tear out my heart.....

CHORUS

— The End —
