I Can't Accept the Past
Louis Brown Apr 2013
I can't accept the past
It's just too yesterday
I like new avenues
Cause it's a better way
It's just a time that's through
All wrapped in clouds of mist
And though it winds through hell again
It's one I can't resist

I Become
Louis Brown Jan 2012
Between your expectations

And mine

I become

The man you see

From traits of those

Who touch my life

And arrange the assembly

Of what I become

KINDNESS IS THE GAME PLAN
Louis Brown Feb 2015
Focus giving to each man

Follow God the best you can

Lift the old, each time they fall

Be ones helping brothers all

Feed the hungry, offer roof

Sincerely try to light the truth

Remind us love is our duty

Then there's far more acts of beauty

Help each stranger have good days

Sometimes go out of your way

Surprising all the way we should

With gentle acts of doing good

So every day of life that's left

You'll learn to be your better self

A True Assessment
Louis Brown Oct 2014
I once knew a fool
Who screws his own life
So ugly within
No help from his wife
The thing called his brain
Just rots in his head
But he'll have to use it
To prove he's not dead
He has not a heart
No passionate soul
He's one empty shell
Without a true goal
A scarring of others
His one strong desire
His reasons are clueless
His morals are dire
No deity claims him
He uses up air
His ought to be rationed
And given elsewhere
You're known by good will
In your journey with men
But this one seems worthless
And rotten within

I'm Out of Love Again
Louis Brown Dec 2011
Tonight

I'm out of love again

Back out in the cold

With that familiar icy wind

Summer days are memories

And winter just stormed in

And tonight

I'm out of love again...

Love In The Dark
Louis Brown Aug 2010
I know I’ll pass this way again
And when I do you’ll take me in
But it won’t work just like before
I’ll hold you in my arms until
Sun splashes on the window sill
And then I’ll leave just like before

I know your arms will open wide
And welcome me so deep inside
And you’ll be all my own once more
But when the warm sensations fade
The parting won’t be long delayed
I’ll hit the road just like before

But I know soon we’ll meet again
Your lips will be so sweet again
You and I keep craving one taste more
But in the aftermath to come
Life looks different in the sun
And it won’t work just like before

How To Move Mountains
Louis Brown Oct 2011
When mountains are between me

And goals I must achieve

I have the strength to equal

How strongly I believe

However great the challenge

The evidence will prove

A dream with hope and shovels

Will make the mountain move

LOT OF MAKING UP TO DO
Louis Brown Nov 2014
Who is that in my old easy chair
That old familiar face looks so still
Looks like me but it's not breathing
Does it mean it's time for leaving
Before my obligations are fulfilled

I woke up and realized it's just a dream
Gotta get it back together once again
I just want to keep it honest
Follow up on things I've promised
Make use of precious time to every end

Lord, I've got some making up to do
There's so many many dreams to carry thru
Let me walk this road on further
I've done so little for my brother
Lord, I've got some making up to do

I want waste this chance to get it right
Let me live it to the fullest Lord I plead
My old pasture's looking green now
It's all ambitious dreams now
My obituary's much too soon to read

True Lies
Louis Brown Jun 2010
tonight I started

believing my old lines

like I want you girl

I need you girl

until the end of time

it was different with you

the words were really true

there's nothing like

lying in your arms

I Remember Tomorrow
Louis Brown Jun 2010
I remember tomorrow

In our home full of memories

Now this house is a big lonely shell

You're nowhere in sight

It's four walls at midnight

And yesterday's ringing the bell

WHEN YOU PASSED BY
Louis Brown Dec 2014
You may remember me
And smile
Still curious
Of my aim
Or possibly
You'll just forget
You ever knew my name
But I will say
As you might guess
That you were more to me
For when you passed
You left a heart
As shattered
As could be
I will remember you
And hurt
Feeling more than humble
Falling short
Of such as you
Is quite
An awful tumble

JUST A SWEET DREAM
Louis Brown Oct 2014
It was all just a dream so real
that night we had such fun
I dreamed we got closer,
hanging on like one
And when my dream went deeper
The laughter went along
And soon I came to notice
the night  could not go wrong
I let ten happy fingers
go running through your hair
My appetite for you
was heating up the air
The lacy silk upon your chest
revealed a sweet outline
Where there were two impressions
I kissed one at a time
The fantasy was beautiful
That lovely night I spent
And dreams don't make you guilty
when you see the fallen tent

I have seen your greed and selfishness
I have viewed your  jealousy run so deep
And strangely I don't know where it came from
I have seen evil and destruction
I have noted the absence of good will
I have seen a familiar face grow very cold
And I have looked in my heart and found no answer
But I recognize an enemy  sick and tormented
And it's unbelievable you disapprove an innocent man so deeply
I can accept hate from people if I can understand it
But I believe people suffer from hating so much
And I know you have hurt with how life has gone
And this crazy bitterness causes such spite
And takes this incredible obsession too far
And does the better half even notice it.
How not?  How not??

A Real Country Song2
Louis Brown Sep 2014
The pretty one smiled
So we danced for awhile
But her eyes were a tough wall to pass
Then I danced with another
Who was somebody's mother
And I ran away pretty fast

When I found a young babe
They were good lines I gave
And I thought my ship came in at last
But she teased and confused me
And finally refused me
When a guy in the band made a pass

SO I TOOK AN OLD MEMORY TO HEAVEN
SOME NIGHTS THAT'S THE HAND YOU ARE GIVEN
SHE FORGAVE MY LATE CALL
AND WE HAD US A BALL
WHEN I TOOK AN OLD MEMORY TO HEAVEN

My pride got knocked out
But there wasn't a doubt
My fantasy seemed mighty real
When I crossed that old bridge
It was something to dig...
I fell again head over heals

CHORUS

bridge:  My father once said like a very wise man
You can survive it if you take what's at hand

Our Short Journey
Louis Brown Jun 2010
We must fill

Our short journey

With laughter

Savor moments

So precious and brief

For time is

A hammering ocean

And life is

A vanishing reef

You'll Know a Good Love
Louis Brown Feb 2012
You were easy to take for granted
in the past
That explains just why
it  didn't last
I missed you here as soon
as you said goodbye
You know a good love
when it dies

I know how much it meant
to hold you close at night
'Know how much I need you...
since you're gone from sight
I know how to know
when true love passes by
You know how good it was
when it dies

I've lost a woman once
or thrice before
It might have hurt a month
or two--no more
But I still see
our memories going by
You know a good love
when it dies
Louis Brown Nov 2014
At our first dance, you sure did take my breath
Since then my lying lines, I've really felt
There's chemistry I've looked for my life thru
Woman I think it's all in you

I've never seen a woman with so much
I've never seen such pretty skin to touch
All I want is right here in my hands
Heaven knows I'm such a  lucky man

I'll be good at loving you tonight
No way to slow this heartbeat
When you're holding on so tight
You're the dream I have dreamed  of all of my life
I'll be good at loving you tonight

Till the New Wears Away

Let us love

As long as it feels right

Even if it fades

In the morning light

Even if it lasts

Forever and a day

Let us love

Till the new wears away

Angel Flights
Louis Brown Nov 2014
Sometimes they fly
Too close to the ground
Old Willie said it long ago
They're beautiful
To have around
And they love so much
They'll never
Let you down

 Instead you find
There love feels right
And gives you wings
That knows no height
Where souls are snared
On lonely nights
Where warm warm kisses
Cause one way flights
