Elizabeth Squires
the bouquet of love soured, on your departure day
the coldest ever eyes were present, on your departure day

the bloom of spring's glory, lost its divine array
streaming tears flowed, sorrowful twas the day

withered, spent, finished, were the petals of May
joy's bliss in your arm's, faded into greyest shade of day

our union diminished in the pollen cup, most awful was the display
all tender feelings vanished, never could it be a lovely day

a sad wind blows on our floral tomb, sweet love lies in decay
nothing but nothing remains, what a melancholy day
Should anyone who has knowledge of the Ghazal format of poetry read this piece...please feel free to critique it. Cheers, Elizabeth.

I am tired and worn,
Like a bird fluttering in cage,
Or Like a puppet dancing on stage,

I am tired and worn,
My heart bleeds under the crown of my dreams,
Which with thorns, is adorned,

I am tired and worn,
Just hours ago it was dawn,
My dreams were like vibrant colors,
Of the rainbow, with a luminous glow,

But all now left is a wreakage,
And a heart waned beyond age,
Filled with despair and rage,

Bitter and jealous of those
Who in life like angels have rose,
To fulfill their dreams, with clever schemes,

Maybe tomorrow will be new day,
An ethereal ray, may,
Enlighten the way,
But tonight,
My heart is torn,
And I am tired and worn..

You swore you'd **** me
if I smoked a cigarette,
but don't you see
they are doing it for you.

Cigarette smoke lapped at
my finger tips
late in the wee hours of the morning
when, without warning
you walked by at the front
of a small herd
of just ex-high schoolers.
The dark kept your face hidden
and I hope mine as well
because after you passed
an amigo pipped,
"Wasn't that your old girlfriend?"
I chain smoked the last three
hardly believing
that moment was the first
glanceĀ I'd had of you in a
year.
Barely a poem

Sometimes we get lost in our darkness.
The only light beyond windows we keep covered in blinds
Someone opens them, someone closes
Yet no one seems to notice, nor tends to, the bleak starkness
The naked baren-ness behind those
Blinds that cease to conceal but rather reveal; a red rose
Enchanting and wondrous, I suppose
Not a soul knows about the treasure I find in the darkness.

A relic
From the age of ancients
The land of great lords
Don't fret
every journey comes to an end.

whether it be falling from the heavens
Or rising from the depths of hell
each peregrination is a story
worth being told
from generation to generation.

lost but not forgotten

No matter the size of the person,
The magnanimity of their act.
Marks made on the world are not a matter of size
Their a matter of depth.

It's really just if the indentation you make
is everlasting.

And leaves a mark
on peoples Hearts.

Confused, conflicted, contradicted
Nothing is going wrong
Yet nothing seems right

All I think about is you
It feels right but truly is the opposite
Unsure of my choices and actions
Yet dying to break loose and rebel

Emotionless yet full of feeling
Limp yet fighting
Angered yet calm
Loved yet lonely
