in a moment of safety
securely unknown
I ask
what value the scarring hard earned
and when I surrender
what harm that I've lost my edge
since I know nothing
what of the wisdom
I blindly vow to share
timely or timeless
a breath of the essence
nourishing fragrance of care

years together
assume naught to discover
yet this very day
we've been never this way
presently changing
beyond rearranging
perhaps you don't recognize me

I practice attention
mesmerized by dignity
memorize a likeness
unified beauty
blue heron
stillness
strikes
home

they nest in my lilacs
come home to give birth
feed them prepare
to  explore a vast earth

they peer in my windows
grow bolder each day
I savor their songs then
growth calls them away

one at a time they appear
each in a different room
four so far
baby mice
sitting perfectly still
willing to be carried
to soft ground, open air, green growing leaves

today      I        sang
a song of me a
promise now delivered
unfolding melody
earthly sound of woman
soft and dark, blue and true
don't try to change
what is
evolves because it must
when      sung       out          loud

I long for my soul
that travels with you
as I am with hunger
that just you can fill.
I imagine you thus, my completion
when in truth I perceive only me
in my dream my delusion of lack.
While we are intact our creation
with stories of struggle revival and pain
as we meet and remember and dance with each other
learning and playing this journey again....
