Koala, Koala,
Steven J Kelly Oct 2018
Koala, Koala, I see you there
you are a marsupial you are not a bear.
You live in a tree carry your young in a pouch.
Eat the eucalyptus unlike the potatoe on the couch

Koala, Koala, you see me
looking up at you in your eucalyptus tree
A Bear is not a Koala, and a Koala, is not a Bear.
I thought I would make people so very much aware

Koala, Koala you just eat leaves.
A Bear is an omnivore and eats what it sees
The Bear needs sleep and is going to be late.
As it settles down to hibernate.

Koala, Koala, I have held you so
like a baby in my arms
I daren't let you go.
Koala, Koala, up in your tree
My pictures I Still have of you and of me.

Flowers
Steven J Kelly Jun 2017
Flowers can make the heart grow fonder
Flowers can make our love grow stronger
Flowers can bring you nearer to me
Flowers are what I will send to thee

Flowers will put a smile on your face
Flowers can make two lovers embrace
Flowers will make you feel better
Even when you are under the weather

Flowers will brighten your day
Flowers will make pain go away
Flowers come in all shapes and sizes
Flowers make beautiful surprises

Flowers can make you ponder
Flowers can make your mind wonder
Flowers are the greatest gift
That a man can send to a woman

We Are Manchester
Steven J Kelly Mar 2018
We are Manchester. The City, The place, we’re hospitable people with a smile on our face. You can beat us, mistreat us, and blow us to hell. We have had it all before and we don’t dwell. We’re the northern powerhouse of the northwestern elite, Where the Geordie's, The Scousers, The Yorkshire’s retreat. The premier League, The Roses Cricket, The Heineken Cup Is a one way ticket. United and City two football teams with stadiums full, bursting at the seams.

We are Mancunians Of this fair City, The People, The Love, The old nitty gritty The worker, The Shirker, The Homeless, The immigrants, each one of these they are all itinerants. The Steel, The Cotton, long since forgotten the old smokey chimneys blew out smoke that was rotten. The Massacre at Peterloo. Local politicians just don’t have a clue. With all the sights this city has on show here’s something that people don’t really know. Manchester is where New Zealand Born Ernest Rutherford split the Atom.

We Are Manchester, The City, the Place, where Sir Humphrey Chetham has his musical grace a school of music with musical taste. And where a  man with a paintbrush painted streets on boxes. I don’t think Lowry ever painted foxes. And A comedian from Collyhurst who was absolutely awesome, a real funny guy by the name of Les Dawson, and where a man from Chorlton on Medlock became Prime Minister back in the day. David Lloyd-George had a hell of  a lot to say.

We Are Manchester and it's the place for me. And a proud Mancunian I’m glad to be. I’ll sit in a cafe watching people pass by. They are all in a hurry and I wonder why. I see a business man in a three piece suit, and the homeless guy that is counting his loot. There's the ******* the street giving out free papers she is smoking those ciggies that give off those vapours. It's pouring with rain and she’s getting wet she’s worried about money to pay off her debt.

We Are Manchester and this is our City don’t waste your time we don’t want no pity. We are Manchester we are steeped in tradition we leave other cities standing. There’s no competition. Where A man from Moss Side a Vicar not a Dean called Rev George Garrett invented the submarine. And where the great Anthony Wilson was a journalist & impresario and a man named John  Nichols invented the great drink called Vimto. and so When he wrote “This Is the Place” I’m sure he did so with a smile on his face. We Are Manchester and I’ll state our case because we are Manchester and we are ace.

You Touched Our Hearts
Steven J Kelly Jun 2017
You touched our hearts we made the change
When you died, it felt so strange
It felt like something was just ripped apart
You don't know how much you touched my heart

You touched our hearts in so many ways
We changed our minds we counted the days
We live our lives in so many ways
We all made mistakes but who really pays

We heard a voice we saw the light
The voice was saying everything's alright
The love we had was all for you
You touched our hearts if only you knew

You made us see so differently in the world
we live & the people we see
Now you have gone what we can do
Life goes on that much is true

You touched my heart I send you my love
from me to you in heaven above
We go to church we kneel & pray
We pray to the lord & words cannot say

We see the things that you have done
You touched our hearts
our lives have just begun
You'll be sadly missed we've got to see

we'll carry your name to eternity
Goodbye farewell people come & go
& if only their love they would show
You touched our hearts that much is true
we shed a tear & we love you
YOU TOUCHED OUR HEARTS

The Towering Inferno
Steven J Kelly Jun 2017
The Towering Inferno was burning bright In the London sky at the dead of night. Voices Ignored for raising concerns people helpless as the fire burns.

The Towering Inferno was an absolute shame, someone somewhere is definitely to blame. People scream as they burn to death Or choking on smoke taking their final breath.

The Towering Inferno was an absolute disgrace they were told they'd be safe if they stayed in their place. Children, Pensioners from different races horrified looks on terrified Faces.

The Towering Inferno was burning bright In the London sky at the dead of night Burning flesh of people alive how did people manage to survive?

The Towering inferno was burning bright in the London sky at the dead of night. The screams of people filled the air the Politicians didn't really care.

The Towering Inferno was burning bright in the London sky at the dead of night. Innocent People aware of the threat beautiful people that we will never ever forget.

The Towering Inferno was burning bright in the London sky at the dead of night. The emergency services arrive on the scene. So does Prince William And her Majesty the Queen.

The Towering Inferno was burning bright in the London sky at the dead of night. Teresa May was an arrogant old cow people don't know what the future holds now. The Towering Inferno was burning bright. now they have managed to extinguish its light.

When I was a boy about 7 years old, I have a story I have seldom told. A story of a time in a dim distant past. Of A family holiday for one week it would last. Blackpool was the place with its Piers, and it’s Tower and the lights switch on was nearing the hour. Red *** a racehorse of splendour and might was to switch on the lights that memorable night. I was on my dad’s shoulders patiently waiting to see, the light extravaganza that would fill people with glee. Then a vehicle pulled up in a side street my dad saw this first and was light on his feet. He moved real quick we were in for a treat, Red *** the legend we were about to greet, he asked a man could his children stroke the horse. The man said yes and smiled of course. By this time I was holding my dad's hand I was scared and too young I didn’t understand. Paul was the first person on that memorable night to stroke Red *** his face full of delight. That was my story that I have seldom told From a memory of a legend from a boy seven years old.

Friends

Friends who are they?
Friends are people who you can trust
Friends are there when needs must
Friends are people you don't live with
But their time they always give.
Friends are reliable, honest, and fair.
Friends are people who really do care.
Friends are there when you are sad.
Friends are there to make you glad.
Friends are not family.
Friends are not foes.
Friends are people That nobody knows.
Friends can frustrate you.
Friends can be fun.
But not if they are looking down the barrel of a gun.
Friends are great.
And won't let you down.
Friends will pick you up.
When you wear a frown.
Friends will be there through Thick & Thin
Friends are people you can tell all of secrets too.
Friends will always be there for you.
Even if you are A friend in need.
Then you are a friend indeed
Friends are the best.
Thank you for being my Friend.

More Questions Than Answers
Steven J Kelly Oct 2018
There are more Questions than Answers
If there were more Answers than Questions
Then what would be the ****** point.

There are answers to questions that cannot be Answered.
And Questions that don’t need answering.
I don’t look for answers to questions anymore.
I don’t see the point it’s rather a bore.

Who can explain the Answers to the Questions
and who is dare to question the answers or answer the questions

What is the Question
Who knows the Answer
Who ****** cares

The Conscientious Objector
Steven J Kelly Jun 2017
Desmond Doss didn't give a toss
Cos He never carried a gun
He went to war to fight the ****
And new thy will be done.

He saved the lives of 75 men
And never fired a gun
He did this while he was under fire
And he was the only one

He was on his own on the mountain top
Looking for injured men
As A medic in the army
He did it again, again and again

Now Desmond Doss didn't give a toss
The Conscientious Objector was he
But He saved 75 Men
and was awarded for his bravery

Time
Steven J Kelly Jun 2017
Time is the hourglass, the day and the night.
Time is the infinite, the dark & the light

Time is existence you cannot reverse
Time is precious what could be worse

Time is the constant, the here, and the now.
Time is The past, the present, the future endow

Time is the Clocks on the wall
Tic tock tic tock
Time is The old man who knows it all

Time is the Zodiac like the Yin and the yang
Time is the space where the travelers hang

Time is the 24 hours in a day
Time is the history that won't go away

Time is short, time is long
time is right  Time is wrong

Time goes quick time goes slow
Time can stop time can go

Time is the essence that waits for no man
Time is the Greenwich and the meridian

Time is the second the minute the hour.
Time is the gong in the bell tower

Time is the Chronos the god with the scythe
Time is the woman who gave birth to life

Time is here there and everywhere

Why
Steven J Kelly May 2017
Why
Why would I walk alone
Why would I walk on my own
Why would I listen to you
Someone who knows nothing,
That much is true.

Why would I breath the air
Why would I not seem to care.
Why would I get on the bus
When there are people
That make a fuss.

Why should I walk alone.
Why should I walk on my own
Why should I listen to you
Everything you say
I know is true.

Why should I breath the air
why should I even care
Why should I get on the bus
Who cares if people make a fuss.

Why….because I have too that's why.

The Poppy Fields
Steven J Kelly Nov 2018
As I walk through the Poppy Fields
Watching the Red Flower glow
I pause, and reflect, on the men that fell
Men I didn’t even know.

Loved ones from a different time.
Taken from us in their prime
Bodies lying dead strewed all around
The grave stones of people from all different towns.

In the Poppy fields as I ponder
I sit and think and often wonder
What might have been all those

If A Poem Is A Poem
Steven J Kelly Sep 2018
If A Poem is A Poem with Rhyming words.
Then why do some poems just sound so absurd

Why do some poems only have two or three lines
That conjure up images in a creative mind.

Why do some poems talk about life and death
Or people that wish to take a final breath.

If a poem is a poem with so many words.
What makes a good poem from sounding absurd

What makes a good poem can anyone tell
Maybe it’s the words that you use or the way the way that you spell

Steven J Kelly May 2017
As I walk through the Valley of Life.
I look around and think things are alright.
With a smile on my face I just  keep on Walking,
I hear a voice of someone talking.

As I walk through the Valley of sin.
I see people's lives thrown in the bin.
discarded like they didn't exist.
Someone's hoping they won't be missed.

As I walk through the Valley of death.
As I take my final breath
I hear a voice from a distant past.
it says he's here at last.
With a tear in my eye and a sombre look on my face
I say to myself get me out of this place.

A Conclave Of Priests
Steven J Kelly May 2017
There was a  conclave of Priests walking down my street.
So I move real fast make a hasty retreat.
Then I bump into a habit of nuns,
they are eating biscuits and ice covered buns.

I see a car with 30 people sat inside.
There is someone there that I recognised.
It was the face of a friend who is no longer here.
He's not died he chose to disappear.

I go to the shop I see the people there.
The fat guy, The lunatic, and the man with no hair.
I shouted hey baldy as he walked away.
He turned around but had nothing to say.

I kept on walking and I headed East,
guess what I bumped into a conclave of priests.

I could hear a pin drop then...respect
I opened my ears lest we forget.
The People that died for no unearthly reason.
Terrorist **** should be hanged for treason.

I could hear a pin drop.
to the deathly silence.
I opened my heart....
To the sound of sirens.
People injured or badly maimed.
22 Innocents the police have named.

I could hear a pin drop
no one is there.
Evil ******* that didn't really care.
Living in fear from day to day.
Propaganda words they chose to say.

I could hear a pin drop
…Death all around.
I opened my eyes to the sights and the sounds.
People trying to hide their fears
People crying Crocodile tears.

I could hear a pin drop
so let us prey.
It was In the name of religion
or so they say.

I Could hear a pin drop
but I didn't know where.
The stench of death
you could smell in the air.

When I heard the pin drop
I could smell that stench.
Just like the old ***** asleep on the bench.
Families with loved ones that forever have gone.
We're mancunians and we carry on.

The Brightest Eyes
Steven J Kelly Jun 2017
The Brightest Eyes

As the brightest eyes burn like fire
through the foggy mist I can see
The brightest eyes looking at me
Was i floating on the tide
was i in the middle of a dream
Did I see the river of death pass by
floating down stream

As the fog creeps out over the horizon
It disappears out of view
nobody seems to know where it goes
what does it mean?
Was i in the middle of a dream

As it wandered over the hills unseen
And over the meadows of pastel green
There was a high wind in the trees
There was a cold sound in the air.

Was it a kind of a shadow
That reached out into the night
It was reaching out into into the dark
There was a strange glow in the sky
was i in the middle of a dream?
And nobody ever knows when to go
Or when to start?

The Brightest eyes, were burning like fire
So how could they close and fail?
The Brightest Eyes that were burning so brightly
are now Suddenly burn so pale?

It was a ****** truck.

In no man's land where many fell…
the enemy would fire the guns of hell
The soldiers had no choice but to fight
night and day. day and night.

Many fell injured or dying
many more were sat there crying
a soldier writes home to tell of the horror
his hand shakes amidst all the squalor.

Close friends signed up together
on the battlefield they died for ever
Many more were shot for deserting
the Pain the Sorrow the soldiers were hurting

As I tiptoe through the English Country Garden.
Trying not to disturb the beautiful sights and sounds
I smell the sweet flowers that grow
Like the Buttercups
Forget-me-nots
and the snow drops on show
I hear the birds sing in the sweet joy of spring
And I see the butterfly that sways gently in the breeze
I see the hedgehog waking from his sleep
And the Insects like the bees the ladybirds
I see People with hay fever through allergens in the air
Spring time is here it's that time of the year.

Down In Mustard Tree Lane
Steven J Kelly Jun 2017
Down in Mustard Tree lane.
People remember the old coal fires,
Or they conduct with Beethoven.
Or pray to their lord on Sunday morning.
It’s a place where people have freedom,
where they walk their dog or water their plants.
It’s a place where People listen to Liam & Noel Gallagher
play Snooker & Pool.
Or see the wildlife running free.

Down in Mustard Tree lane
People eat bison,
or remember their budgie.
It’s a place where people play golf or the piano
& where you can buy a twelve pound fifty bus ticket.
It’s a place where babies are born
and where families get together.
Or where you can remember your neighbours.
it’s a place where people remember the boogie man..
It’s a place where people eat bread & dripping

So why don’t you come with me down to Mustard Tree Lane
there is so much to do and so much to see.
& so much going on.
There are so many incredible people to meet..
Mustard Tree Lane is a place I like to be.

Mustard tree lane is my Home and Home....
Home is where the heart is.
Or what ever I want it to be.
Mustard tree Lane is just off
Marmalade Avenue & Candy-floss Drive.

The Great War
Steven J Kelly Jun 2017
As young men left their homes to fight a needless war
Mothers of those soldiers see them off for sure.
They leave and are told the war will be over soon
leaving full of happiness singing wartime tunes

Kitchener said your country needs you
But he didn't really care
he didn't have to go over the top
when gunfire was in the air.

The Young boys fight...go over the top
they know they're not coming back
As they go into no man's land
the guns go crack, crack, crack.

There's a stench of death all around
People dead on the ground
young boys who had a lot to give
Never going home
Someone needs to tell their mum’s
That their babies have gone.

The mums receive a letter telling them their boys have died
they cannot comprehend the facts
they cried, and cried, and cried.
Mothers lost sons
babies lost dads
does anyone really know why
Millions of soldiers went to war and had to ******* die

Soldiers didn't only die from gunshot wounds
They died from illness to
buried in a far away land
graves of masses grew

The soldiers fought a needless war
They say the war was the Great War
but how can war be great
with millions of innocent people
Are now known as the late.

War is pointless and achieves no end.
Politicians set the trend
But still countries want to fight
I can see no point I guess I’m right.

I will never comprehend

Daddy John

I was young when I cried

Daddy John
I love you so
I love you so
Daddy John

I was not sure if I'd done
Something wrong

Daddy John
Come back
Come back
Daddy John

Or if it was my fault
You left for me never to see you again

Daddy John
Don't go
Don't go

I never got a chance to ask you why

It's made of oak
And that's no joke
By the Powers Vested In me

With The Powers Vested in me
We’ll see as far as the eye can see
We'll fly real high

I'm as bald as an eagle
My heads as smooth as ball point pen
I hope you like my little jig now say it all again

All My Yesterday’s
Steven J Kelly Nov 2018
All my Yesterday’s are all your Tomorrow’s
And Tomorrow is a day I long for
To see my wife, My children, To eat good english food
Will there be no end to this needless war

All my Yesterday’s should always be your Tomorrow’s
And tomorrow is a day that I miss
For yesterday is just a dream
There is no time to reminisce

All my Yesterday’s are like all your Tomorrow’s
And Tomorrow never comes
for Tomorrow is just a vision
With a distant sound of the drums

All my Yesterday’s will always be your Tomorrow’s
How have I managed to cope
Yesterday is just a dream of happiness
And Every Tomorrow is a vision of Hope

In My Life
Steven J Kelly Nov 2018
In my life I've had heartache and pain over and over and over again.
I’ve been battered and beaten for no **** good reason. Accused and abused no matter the season

I’ve laughed I’ve cried & remembered those who have died like My brother, My Sister My Mum  and My Dad. They were  All in my life all that I had. I tell a lie I have another brother too from a family of six down to just two.

In my life I’ve seen things that make me cry, like a dog with its head blown off I don’t know why. I seen a man who died from falling from on high. It’s vague image now and yes he did die. In my life I’ve lost those that I loved, some are still here and some are above. I have six children who I really miss, my babies are growing up I have no one to kiss.

In my life I remember faces and places and names of people from all different races. I’ve held  Kangaroos, Koalas, & Snakes I've seen people who just love eating cakes.
The memories are clear, true and unjust In My Life they were people I'd trust

Back To Dear Old Blighty
Steven J Kelly Nov 2018
As I leave my loved ones so far behind
They are never further from my mind
My Wife, My Son, My baby daughter
We go over the top like lambs to the slaughter
I peek out, pop my head out ever so slightly
I’m scared that I will never get back to Dear old Blighty

The days, the weeks, and months pass by,
I’ve seen so many soldiers I’ve watched them all die
Friends and comrades from all different ages
There’s a soldier who writes home he uses some many pages
For King, For Country, for an Empire so mighty
I hope someday to go back to Dear old Blighty.

My friends are gone, there is no one
They all died in the battle of the Somme
This war that I leave makes me grieve
I'm not sure if I can go on
I’ve been shot, I’m wounded but thank god Almighty
I’m going home back to Dear old Blighty

Mother
Steven J Kelly Jun 2017
Mother
As I reached out into the dark
to touch you
I felt your cold hand

I looked but could not see.
I listened but could not hear
I tried to smell but could not smell
I tried to touch but could not feel
I ate Food but could not taste
I felt sick, afraid, anxious.

With you lying there lifeless
I noticed you Were dead
There was a sudden realisation
That you were gone forever
I was numb I was sad

I have kept your picture beside me ever since
There was nothing, nothing but
the pain of my broken heart.
The pain and the sense of loss

I remember that I used to shout at you
Mainly so you wouldn't get hurt
You were old, Frail,
That was no excuse
I'm sorry

How I wish you were here
But you are not
you are gone forever
And I miss you

You could have a laugh
You were funny
Some of the things you said made me laugh
That is why I am so proud to have been your youngest child

You were the one who gave birth to me
You Showed me the right path
You taught me manners, respect
I'm thankful that you were in my life
I'm thankful you were my mother.
I love you

The Ghost
Steven J Kelly Jun 2017
I saw something move
It scared me
I had shivers go down my spine
My hair stood up on end
What did I see
I saw a shadow walk past me

I felt something touch me
It scared me
I had goosebumps
Was I seeing things
Imagining
Dreaming

I felt something breath on me
It scared me
I felt sick and started to panic
I tried to scream but couldn't
I ran and ran and ran
I ran into a Ghost
A Ghost of my former self

I heard something speak to me
It scared me
It said hello
Can you help me
I saw this figure in front of me
I **** myself
No I do mean that literally
I really did **** myself
I got out of there

The Ghost scared me

Stand By You, Stand By Me!
Steven J Kelly May 2017
Stand By You, Stand By Me!

I'll stand by you
If you stand by me
Together forever
Till eternity

If you stand by me
I'll stand by you
Our love together
will always be true.

I'll stand by you
If you stand by me
We are flying high
over the sea

If you stand by me
I'll stand by you
We spread our wings
Our love is true.

I'll stand by you
if you stand by me
I'll make my promise
then we’ll see

If you stand me
I'll stand by you
Together
we can see it through

I'll stand by you
through thick and thin
You stand by me.
Forever we will be.

I love you

Job
Steven J Kelly Nov 2018
Job
My benefits were stopped after I lost my appeal
For a problem with my back which is ever so real

I applied for a job with real good money
I have to take it serious this job isn’t funny

I’m approaching 50 with enough to show
They liked my cv that I do know

I’m glad I’m off that awful benefits
It’s get you down makes you feel like ****

My back will not dictate to me anymore
I’m in charge it will know the score.

At last I have turned a corner in my life
My next objective is to get me a wife.

I’m happy not sad and I’m not a cruiser
I have a friend who really is a loser

The people at my appeal did me a favour
Finally I have something that I can savour

From 16 years old I was on benefits
Coasting through life it really is the pits.

But finally after trying for so many years
I got myself a job so cheers

My Son
Steven J Kelly Jan 2018
John my son how I’ve missed you so.
There are so many things that you need to know.
But first let me start by saying I’m sorry.
Now I have done that I don’t need to worry
It played on my mind for many a year
I’m not ashamed to say I shed a tear.
There are some many things that I want to say
maybe late at night or the first light of day.
I cried and cried when they took you away
It was all my fault it was so hard to say.
I wasn’t sure if I could carry on. But I did, and I have,
and I am so proud to say you are my son
Someday we will meet for that I cannot wait.
It could be early morning or so very late.
Until we meet you’ll never know how much I truly love you so

P.T.S.D.
Steven J Kelly Dec 2017
In 2014 I was Diagnosed with PTSD Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I had been suffering badly with it for over twenty years. It was the result of a serious beating that I received back in 1991 and a gruesome. incident i witnessed back in 2004. I thought only people who been in a war zone got PTSD

Have you ever been frightened to close your eyes and go to sleep because if you do you might relive the nightmares of the past It was a lonely sometimes tortured existence. Which cost me the woman I love and the children that i miss.

So don't me judge me for the mistakes I made through a condition that i have.

And if you must judge me then
Judge me for me for the man I am and not the man that I was.
Judge me for things I do and not what I did.
Judge me for things I say and not what I said.
Judge me for the things I see and what I have seen.
Or let they who is without sin cast the first stone

If you must judge me then do so now or forever hold your peace…….Thank You.

Adoption
Steven J Kelly Jan 2018
She had tears coming down her face
Her children were being taken away
She had given birth to six children.
She had them to one man
She loved them like any mother would
But her own demons destroyed her
She gave birth to six more children
only for them to be taken away
The men in her life were not the best
Her addiction to drugs were her downfall
Her addiction to *** were her downfall
She was a neurotic middle class woman
Gave birth to twelve children
Who were all up for Adoption
I still love her and always will
