Book
Keith Wilson Nov 2019
I was reading this book
Was it an illusion?
I was drawn like a magnet;
I couldn not stop reading
I was bound to finish sometime
but
there was a problem
with the Quantum

Impossible
Keith Wilson Nov 2019
Dark days again
Noisy in here today
resting on the spine of my book
my head's in a spin
making things impossible

In The Moon's Shadow
Keith Wilson Nov 2019
The old barn owl was on the wing
in line with the moon's shadow

I followed without a whisper
until he settled, in a nearby tree

Mixed Feelings
Keith Wilson Nov 2019
I went to mingle at coffee morning
with mixed feelings
All I could hear were voices
echoing along the passageway

There was nothing really of note
We seem to be going through
an unsettled spell
at the moment

The Geese
Keith Wilson Nov 2019

in strict formation
There seemed to be more than usual

First Coffee Morning
Keith Wilson Sep 2019
It's absurd!

They isolated me
at the coffee morning

I had a vision
of everything going wrong

I didn't say a word

John The Postman
Keith Wilson Sep 2019
John the postman
is a cheerful chap
although
he once hurt his back

He brings the mail
dead on time
whether it's wet
or whether it's fine

He trundles along
in his little red van
and he's always there
to help if he can

The Book
Keith Wilson Sep 2019
I can't fathom out
why the spine of the book
has gone rotten
in the middle pages

Perhaps my wife, Grace
can help
when she has finished the orange
she is eating

The Tackle
Keith Wilson Sep 2019
There seemed no sense
in the tackle
which caused
a double-fracture of the right leg

He should have stayed at home
with his painting on the easel
and his beer fermenting
in the kitchen

The colors seem to come
from different soil conditions

Gardens
Keith Wilson Aug 2019
I was the last
of the old Victorian gardeners
the 'cap in hand'
sort of chap
I did six acres
on my own
mowing lawns
and tending flower beds
just getting help
with the vast amount of leaves
in the fall
Now the landscapers turn up
and do it all
in one day
(in a fashion)
My how things have changed

On The Somme World War One
Keith Wilson Jul 2019
Tommy was sat in the trenches
trying to write his poetry
but was distracted by the rats
scampering by
all the time

But with all the bullets and shells
and not forgetting the vermin
it was pretty hard
trying to write poetry

We will have to wait and see
There seems to be
a fair chance

and so on
and so on

A regular 8:03
will have you in the office
for a good telling off

The Sharp Blade
Keith Wilson Jul 2019
The sharp blade
came spiralling down
towards the man's
distraught face
causing a spark
on the solid surface
as he fought
to get away.

Feeling Groggy
Keith Wilson Jul 2019
Not feeling good today
I wish it would all go away
Shaking like a leaf
I hope it's only brief
I just want to sleep
heavy and deep
Could do with some soup
instead I've come down
to the poetry group
